Former Raiders’ defensive tackle Christian Wilkins is staying in the news since his release from the Raiders on Thursday, but not for the reasons anyone would have guessed a few days ago.
On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Wilkins allegedly offered an unwanted kiss to a teammate in what was described as a “playful” situation, but the teammate did not take it that way and reported the incident to the Raiders’ human resources department.
But in the wake of Schefter’s report, there are multiple outlets suggesting there is a bigger story floating around, and it sounds like that one might be a little more complicated.
Chat Sports Raiders Report host Mitchell Renz was the first to report on Wilkins refusing to have a second medical procedure on his foot and Renz has been following the latest drama around Wilkins as closely as anyone.
Renz said he has heard there are legal reasons keeping the Wilkins’ story out of the public eye, but a quote he shared on Monday’s show might have been the most disturbing so far.

Renz said an anonymous source told him that whatever Wilkins was allegedly involved in is “an impossible thing to ever go public with.”
Given the nature of the most recent allegations involving Wilkins, it sounds like the “bigger” story is moving in a direction that might not be particularly comfortable to discuss. A lot of Wilkins’ behaviors have been written off as immaturity over the years, but some of the odd situations he has put himself in go all the way back to college.
Hopefully, the latest rumors around Wilkins don’t fall into the category of the video below, but it certainly seems like the story is trending in an awkward direction.
For the Raiders’ part, they have separated from Wilkins on the football side of operations, and the sides are now preparing for a legal fight that could last as long as two years, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
It’s unclear if the latest rumors around Wilkins might have contributed to his release, but the more details that roll out, the more it feels like they probably played a part.
