A Pre-Season Coin Flip Has Correctly Predicted the Outcomes of the Raiders’ First 11 Games

No one could have predicted the unprecedented season the Raiders have enjoyed and endured for the last two months, but a coin before the start of the season did correctly pick the outcome of the Raiders’ first 11 games.

A Reddit user back in week 4 of the season posted the results of his pre-season coin flips and at the time, the coin’s record was 4-0. Since then, the coin has improved to 11-0. It has the Raiders winning next week against the Washington Football Team and losing the following week to the Chiefs… again.

For what it’s worth, the odds of a coin correctly picking 11 games in a row is 1 in 2,000. The odds of the coin picking 17 games in a row is 1 in 131,072.

After Thursday’s 36-33 win over the Cowboys, the Raiders odds of making the playoffs this year jumped to around 17 percent. Based on 312,000 simulations, they now have just over a 3 percent chance of winning the AFC West and a 14 percent chance of earning a wild card.

Given all that the Raiders have been through in the past two months, they’ve already beaten the odds by keeping the season from completely falling apart. Thursday’s win resurrected their season for the moment, but the Washington game next week will be a good indication as to whether the Raiders are back to where they were prior to the start of the season’s unfortunate drama.

  1. Not even week 4, this reddit user posted the results of the coin flips before the season even started. He also did coin flips for the other 31 team’s 17 games and as a result, has the Raiders being the # 7 seed at 10-7.

  2. Hello there, You have done a fantastic job. I will certainly digg it and personally recommend to my friends. I am sure they will be benefited from this site.
