Adam Schefter Shared What He Is Hearing on the Possibility of Aaron Rodgers Joining the Raiders

With the Rams no longer in the market for a quarterback and the Raiders more in the market for a quarterback than ever, there have been rumors that Rodgers might be a fit in Las Vegas.

Rodgers hasn’t spoken on his future, and he is rumored to be out of the country. From the outside it appears that many of his better signing options have dried up in recent weeks and, officially, he hasn’t even confirmed that he’s going to play another NFL season.

There has not been any firm information on the Raiders and Rodgers other than a report this week from the Associated Press saying Tom Brady and company haven’t made a determination on whether they plan to pursue Rodgers or not.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter has a complicated history with Rodgers, but he is the most connected insider in the industry, and he talked on Thursday about what he is hearing on Rodgers and the Raiders.

Essentially, he said he is hearing nothing.

“I have not heard Aaron Rodgers name out of there,” Schefter said of the Raiders. “That doesn’t mean it can’t happen, but I just haven’t heard that as a viable solution. [Las Vegas] may not be an option for Aaron Rodgers and if it’s not, then we’re back to the Giants and some of those other places that I don’t see him doing in the midwest… and that’s why, again, when Matthew Stafford went back to L.A., that was not what Aaron Rodgers was looking for.”

For now, the free agent quarterback that seems to have the best odds of going to the Raiders is Sam Darnold, but it doesn’t feel like the decision makers in Las Vegas are particularly excited about that option either.

For his part, it sounds like Darnold would prefer to go back to Minnesota if the Vikings would be willing to give him some type of long-term security.

The Vikings think a lot of Darnold, but they spent a first-round pick on J.J. McCarthy in 2024 and every indication is that McCarthy is the presumed starting quarterback in Minnesota going forward. If there’s a way the Vikings can being back both quarterbacks, they would love to do it, but Darnold would have to take a significant pay cut, and his starting job might not be waiting for him in at the start of offseason activities.

  1. Good. And if he does it should be more misinformation
Two shredded Achilles tendons and a self righteous attitude on a dinosaur is not what you want taking a roster spot

  2. don’t want Rodgers on the Raiders too much baggage he just needs to retire already

  3. All of the comments are basically stating that the Raider fan base does not want baggage boy. He’s old beat up and an attitude that sucks. He got a good coach fired Robert Saleh. I want absolutely nothing to do with Mr Rodgers neighborhood. He is a 🤡
