Adam Schefter Shares Latest on Maxx Crosby and the Raiders

The Raiders might not be shopping Maxx Crosby, but it seems obvious from the outside that he’s available for the right price.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is asked every day about Crosby, and he continues to say the Raiders are looking for two first-round picks and a player in exchange for their All-Pro pass rusher.

If the Raiders can’t get their asking price for Crosby, Schefter doesn’t think Tom Brady and company are going to be willing to budge a lot.

“I don’t expect the price to go down much [on Maxx Crosby],” Schefter said on the Pat McAfee Show on Tuesday. “I think the Raiders would be prepared to keep Maxx Crosby if they don’t get the price they want. They’re looking for a Micah Parsons type of package. Are they going to get that? I don’t know. If they don’t, then what do they do?”

Over the course of the NFL Combine, one of the prevailing messages seemed to be that the Raiders aren’t going to get two first-round picks and a player for Crosby, but with so many teams known to be interested, it will be interesting to see if someone caves.

It was rumored that the Raiders were offered two first-round picks for Crosby in the last year, so it wouldn’t be a big surprise if someone is willing to give up a couple of premium picks for Crosby before the dust settles on the situation.

With news coming in the last couple days that a trade could happen in the next week, it would seem like the decision-makers in Las Vegas would like to get everyone’s best offer now and not let Crosby’s uncertain status linger until the draft.

For anyone who missed it this morning…

Sports Illustrated insider Albert Breer talked about Crosby’s future on Monday and was asked how he thinks the situation between Crosby and the Raiders is ultimately going to play out.

“I think they are going to trade him, but I don’t think they are going to be backed into a corner to do it,” Breer said on Sports Illustrated’s MMQB Podcast.

“I think he probably gets traded this week. But again, there are so many moving parts here and I’m not talking for Maxx here. I would want to make sure I’m clear about that. I would just say if I’m Maxx Crosby in this scenario, going through what I went through for the last couple of months does is it causes me to look at my football mortality,” Breer continued.

“I’ve talked about timelines… this is the second straight year he has finished the season injured. It is what it is. He’s turning 29. This is going to be his 8th season coming up, believe it or not, and now psychologically the door to being traded has opened. So now that wandering eye is looking around. What could this team do for me? What could that team do for me? And I just think for him it’s kind of one of those ‘Either this is going to happen for me now or I’ve got to really buckle in and roll the dice that the Raiders are going to get this turned around.”
