Analyst Names Cornerback Raiders “Can’t Let Out of the Building” in the Offseason

The NFL regular season is still two months from being over, but for the Raiders’ front office it’s already time to start focusing on the future.

At 2-6, the Raiders are a long shot to be in the playoff conversation, and the organization has big decisions coming on a handful of key players on the roster.

One player the Raiders are going to try to keep is cornerback Nate Hobbs, and Yahoo/FOX Sports analyst Jason Fitz offered a strong take on how the Raiders should approach Hobbs potentially coming back next year.

“Nate Hobbs is the sort of guy that you don’t [let go],” Fitz said on Raider Nation Radio’s The Morning Tailgate. “Don’t let Nate Hobbs out of your building because if you can get the things you need this offseason, you know we’ve seen over and over and over again, going from four or five wins to eight or nine wins can happen in an off season.”

Last year, Fitz had even stronger words on Hobbs as he was being floated around as a potential trade candidate prior to the 2023 trade deadline…

“If there was an award to give for you the guy that you know is going to put his body in the way and take you down, it’s Nate Hobbs,” Fitz said.

“I have a man crush on Nate Hobbs in the way he is playing to the football,” he continued. “I don’t care about the coverage portion of this for a second. I care about when the play is in front of Nate Hobbs, it doesn’t matter if there’s three guys in front of him on a wide receiver screen, my guy finds a way to break through that. He is absolutely a cannon ball swarming to the football, and it feels like he is the effort and energy, the Maxx Crosby of the secondary.”

The NFL trade deadline is on the calendar again in less than a week, and it will be interesting to see if Hobbs becomes a trade target for the second year in a row.

Last year, one of the teams reportedly interested in Hobbs was the San Francisco 49ers, and there’s a good chance others will be on the phone with the Raiders about him this year.

The trade deadline is November 5, and a lot will be happening in the world on that busy Tuesday. NFL players and American presidential candidates will be dominating the headlines that day.

  1. There is nobody on this team I’d over pay. There no question this team has NO vocal leader. Right now I’d let anyone that is going to demand 10 plus a season to pack their bags.

  2. What kinda TV deal did the NFL commissioner make …use to be NFC on fox and AFC on CBS… now it’s mostly NFC games on both channels and what’s even worse most are east coast teams… that commissioner deserves an extra QuarterPounder with an extra helping of Onions… from the Golden Arches… are him and mark Davis related… both making greedy money deals… could they both secretly be the raiders offensive line coach… maybe they should both see the wizard and get help. he gave the scarecrow one… TUCK rule my finger and you know which one… just like the Pittsburgh game in 74…

  3. Defense is good…like they say if it’s not broken don’t try to fix it.the offense now that should be priority… especially the line and coaches… they are the ones to have the line ready to play… a lot of other teams have rookies starting and should not be an excuse losing… give them a couple QuarterPounders with extra cheese and extra onions so when they’re in their luxury box they can smell what they made extra bloating and extra farting… yes coaches and management really stinks…

  4. Head coach needs to replace the O C or line coach… maybe both… get a big fullback who can catch , run and pick up the pass rush blitz… mix in a two back offense so the Quarterback has another target or extra blocker… start redder and let him play…if he’s good and wins work with him during the bye week and get ready to make a wildcard run… you might be surprised what he can do… Do something so far the offense looks lost… Get a running back and Full back tandem… no real Quarterback leadership… start the young Ridder and a two back set…and leave the Defense alone their Good…

  5. It’s OK to eat at the Golden Arches… but not ok to lose doing the same offensive playcalling and say it’s a lesson the lessons are done at training camp…need a person who can pick players not people who made a name for themselves with another team… OAKLAND RAIDERS the name and place is just sounds better… LV is not a football town no home field advantage…
