Are the Raiders gaining a competitive advantage by having Tom Brady in the building while he has intimate access to 31 other NFL teams through his broadcasting role at FOX?
ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that week that Brady has too much “professional and moral” character to assume he would use his role with FOX to benefit the Raiders, but former head coach Antonio Pierce hinted on Thursday that Brady has already used his to position at FOX to benefit the Raiders.
“This is unprecedented, what we’re seeing,” Pierce told SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio’s Adam Schein about Brady’s access as a team owner and decision maker.
“I think I would be uncomfortable if it was the other way around, to be honest with you, because you’re not dealing with just a normal person. Tom Brady is the elite of the elite, one of the greatest quarterbacks, one of the greatest players in the game, played against him, obviously, student of the game,” Pierce continued. “It’s not hard for him to watch a few things on a Friday practice or hear things in a production meeting and be like, ‘Hmm,’ and have tidbits. And you’d be foolish enough to think that he’s not going to share that with the Raiders because we had those conversations about certain things.”
Pierce continued by saying Brady was around when he was head coach of the Raiders, but believes he has an even bigger role with the team in 2025.
Pierce also implied that Brady was a big part of the reason the Raiders fired him in January.
“I think everybody’s gonna give you the political answer and say, ‘Oh, it’s no big deal,’” Pierce said. “I’m calling BS on that because if me and you was to call the game, they’ll be secretive with us. Now you got a guy who’s a minority owner, a great player, you know he understands the game, you know he sees the game. He has obviously an interest in the Raiders. So I just think it’s unprecedented. We haven’t seen it.
“Again, I don’t want to talk above my means. I don’t know what the NFL has set for Tom Brady and his rules, but I know he was a great asset for us with the Raiders when I was there. And I think he’ll still be a great asset as he’s going forward and I think this does help him out, and the Raiders. He was at training camp. He’s been around, he was at OTAs, he was in the draft meetings. He’s been around a lot more than he was last year with me.”
“Our conversations were more about how we fix the Raiders. I think this year, you know, he built that team. I mean, those are a lot of his calls, right? I think even starting with [firing] me, you know, I think with me that was one of his calls. And again, Pete Carroll and Geno [Smith], like he’s heavily involved within the organization. So maybe last year that would have helped me out. But I didn’t have that from Tom last year.”
Pierce lasted almost nine months without speaking publicly on his time with the Raiders, but in the last few weeks he has taken the muzzle off completely.
Less than two weeks ago, seemed to take gentle jabs at Aidan O’Connell and his former GM with comments about things he didn’t have when he was with the Raiders.
“With Pete Carroll, the biggest thing with him is, he’s been there, done that before. He’s won everywhere he’s been,” Pierce said on the week one CBS pre-game show. “[Carroll] brings in a culture. I think no different than I tried to do last year.”
“You bring in a culture and get guys excited, but you got to maintain it,” Pierce continued. “But I think the key thing that happened for Pete Carroll [is] he got his quarterback… then he went and got the running back. So it’s interesting for me because that’s what I wanted last year, and I didn’t get it. My guy Josh Jacobs plays for the Green Bay Packers. With him and [John] Spytek I think they’ve done a great job of working together. It always starts with the head coach and GM being on the same page.”

Well, thus far, the “competitive edge” is nonexistent.
They are raider haters. He ain’t did nothing wrong. Media, media. Raiderssssssss
Raider4life54@gmail.com. haters of Raiders.
He ain’t did nothing. ☠️💪☠️💪💯👊.
Sounds like jealous voices.
I liked pierce but he’s not a head coach. Somewhere AL is smiling “the enemy of his enemy is now on our friend” I’d be ok with Brady as our o.c. if it came to be. Kelly gets too clever ,run the ball dude! Whatever Brady is sharing is because Mark has asked him for it. He was gonna get it from gruden( who is winning his case in Nevada supreme Court btw) but since he’s gone turned to Tom. Good move by Mark. Pete Carroll is a huge improvement!
Pierce, just go away. You’re like a scorned lover. It’s a pathetic look. Just stop already. And anybody can just look at tape and see what the other team does. It’s called film study and if you had maybe learned how to do film study, you might still be coaching. Take responsibility for your own failures, like let’s say, bankruptcy, and just own up to it. Like I said, go away
I wish Brady was the asset AP makes him out to be
WOW!! That’s why the Raiders have been so successful since TB has joined the Raiders. AP might still have a job if anything TB taught him worked out. The Raiders are still a sh*t team and it’s not looking any better with PC. You all just need a story to write to keep your job. When the Raiders start winning, maybe then you talk sh*t.
But enough with this garbage news! I want articles that explain to me why the offensive line can’t get the running game going, or why Geno keeps forcing double coverage, not this sewing circle stuff.
Once a Raider, Always a Raider. My A. My, what jilted witch. Obviously not loyal to the hood, donning KC Red in the summer, now twisting the blade for some podcast change. See ya AP! no torch lighting for you!
We should never hired him in the first place, Davis should have given Harbaugh whatever he wanted but he knew better.
