Report: Bears Trying to Trade Up, Most Likely for Ashton Jeanty

There has been speculation the Raiders might be in an ideal position to get trade offers from teams interested in Ashton Jeanty and it sounds like that might be happening with just a few hours to go before the draft.

According to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, the Bears are making calls in an effort to move up from the no. 10 pick in the draft.

“The Bears are among teams making calls in an attempt to trade up, per sources,” Russini posted on X on Thursday afternoon. “Teams believe Chicago is trying to move up from No. 10 in an effort to land Boise State RB Ashton Jeanty.”

In theory, the New England Patriots and Jacksonville Jaguars might be in a little better position to swing a trade for Jeanty, but the Patriots are believed to really like LSU offensive tackle Will Campbell, and the Jaguars are rumored to have their eyes on the Cleveland Browns’ no. 2 pick. If the Jaguars are able to move up in the draft, it would presumably be for Travis Hunter, not Jeanty.

Jeff Howe on X (formerly Twitter): “The Patriots have not shown much, if any, interest in moving up from No. 4 in the draft, per sources. They’ve sounded willing to stick to their board. / X”

The Patriots have not shown much, if any, interest in moving up from No. 4 in the draft, per sources. They’ve sounded willing to stick to their board.

Depending on what happens ahead of the Raiders, they may be sitting on the optimum pick to get a trade return from the Bears if Jeanty is still on the board.

For their part, the Browns could be a position to swing two trades and end up with the no. 10 pick and multiple day two picks. Surely, the Browns aren’t that crafty, though, right?

While offensive line is the popular pick right now for the Silver & Black, several insiders, including The Athletic’s Vic Tafur, maintain that Ashton Jeanty is still a possibility.

    1. Guess what? Trading back. And it’s the smart thing to do if they are willing to bleed for it.
Jeanty ain’t Robinson. Boise st.? lol

  1. We have so many holes to fill.
OL DL. WR, AND LB. IF we can pick up 2-3 more draft picks. Go for it!

  2. That was a bad pick, taking gentry. The raiders don’t have an O – line . Last year was evident of that. It will be, hand off cloud of dust 2 yds. They need help at WR, and a future QB.
