Insider Shares Who He “100 Percent” Believes Tom Brady Would Want as the Raiders’ Head Coach

The Raiders are casting a wide net in the search for their’s next head coach, and the message from the organization in recent weeks is that Tom Brady and GM John Spytek are spearheading the search.

It was reported this month that Spytek didn’t play a lead role in the team’s decision to hire Pete Carroll, and although he may have a more prominent voice this time around, the decision will presumably come down to Brady’s preference again.

Unfortunately for Brady, though, his top choice to be the next head coach in Las Vegas might not be an option even though the candidate is technically available.

“If there were no consequences and no cost, it would be Josh [McDaniels],” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast.

“I’m not reporting he’s coming back. But that is the name, if I was asked, who would Tom want? I 100 percent believe that’s who Tom would want. They want a young offensive mind who can develop a quarterback. Look what he did with Mac Jones. Look what he’s doing with Drake Maye.”

Obviously, there’s too much history between McDaniels and the Raiders to go down that road again, but according to Carpenter, Brady tried to convince Davis not to fire McDaniels in October of 2023.

“I was told by someone in the organization. I was not told this by Mark and I was not told this by Tom Brady. I want to make that clear. However, the person who told me would absolutely know. I was told that when Mark got ready to fire, Josh McDaniels. Tom wanted to convince him not to get rid of Josh McDaniels,” Carpenter said.

“I know Tom and Josh are tight. If Tom had been here when Josh was here, Josh would not have been fired. If Tom would have been here when Josh was here, Josh would probably still be the coach.”

As well as the Patriots have performed this year with McDaniels as their offensive coordinator, it’s interesting that his name hasn’t been floated by anyone as a potential head coaching candidate in this year’s hiring cycle.

There has been a lot of finger-pointing at the Raiders since McDaniels was fired, but there are obviously plenty of teams around the league that aren’t willing to pin McDaniels’ failure in Las Vegas on the organization.

With McDaniels not a viable option, one candidate that could pick up some steam in the days ahead is Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak.

There are reasons to believe he might be near the top of Brady’s list with plenty of time for the decision to go in a lot of different directions.

  1. Josh McDoofus evidently is the object of Brady’s man crush. Tom, he isn’t head coach material. Period! Do ya get that? NO g**dammit!

  2. How many times are we gonna hear this BS! Spytec needs to pick the next coach. Leave Brady and MD out!

  3. The raiders don’t need Josh McDaniels again. Unless it’s as an OC, that’sit. He was worthless as an HC. if Brady wants to bring him back as HC, they should bar Brady from the building or any decision makingof the raders.
