Cowboys Among 3 Teams Interested In Trading For Amari Cooper

Amari Cooper is on the trade block and according to an ESPN report, there are at least three teams in the mix to trade for Cooper.

“The Cowboys have been calling around to people who know the 24-year-old Cooper, gathering as much information as they can about him as they mull whether to make a move for the former first-round draft selection,” ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Sunday.

“The Cowboys are not alone; the Raiders have heard inquiries on Cooper from, among others, the Washington Redskins and Indianapolis Colts, according to a league source.”

The Cowboys have been one of the dots connected with Cooper since last week when reports surfaced that he might be traded. Certainly the Cowboys could use a solid option to replace Dez Bryant and after navigating Bryant’s antics over the past few years, Dallas would probably welcome a player like Cooper, who almost never wants to be in the spotlight.

The Redskins are an interesting trade partner for Cooper because they happen to be coached by another Gruden. If Jon Gruden isn’t a fan of Cooper (which we don’t know to be the case), it’s odd that his brother would want to trade for him. Or maybe that’s exactly the kind of thing you do to/for your brother in a situation like this.

  1. As much as I love Coop, he’s absolutely NOT worth the $15-17m he’ll be demanding. Perhaps another coaching staff can get more out of him than the clowns we’ve had in OAK, but he’s nowhere a legit “elite” WR in the NFL. Maybe trade him to the Cowboys – or ANY team – for an upper tier offensive tackle, instead of blowing a pick on another project that may or may not be worth shyte.
