The Raiders are potentially days away from parting ways with Maxx Crosby and if that happens, one of the talking points of the offseason is going to be about the way things fell apart between Crosby and the organization over the last few months.
Last week, Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter hinted that Crosby’s issue with the Raiders goes above John Spytek and directly to Tom Brady. Carpenter didn’t elaborate on that dynamic, but it has also been reported that players and coaches haven’t responded well to the presence of the person perceived to be Brady’s “eyes and ears” in the organization.
Piecing things together over the last few months, Brady’s long-time friend and trainer Alex Guerrero seems to have had interactions with Crosby over the course of that season that didn’t sit well with the All-Pro pass rusher.
On Wednesday, that narrative was substantiated by The Athletic’s Mike Silver, who framed Guerrero as someone whose role extends beyond his job description and many times speaks for Brady.
“Like many players and coaches, Crosby was frustrated by the presence of Alex Guerrero, a staunch Brady ally whose official title is wellness coordinator,” Silver wrote in his latest column at The Athletic.
“Guerrero, who regularly attends practices and meetings, purports to possess significant organizational power, informing players of impending transactions and even indicating to staff members who don’t follow his instructions that their jobs may be at risk,” Silver continued. “Guerrero is perceived to have a direct pipeline to Brady, who lives in Florida and serves as Fox’s lead NFL analyst, limiting his in-person presence.”
As many already know, Guerrero was with the New England Patriots while Tom Brady was the Patriots’ quarterback and had a number of privileges revoked by Bill Belichick in 2017.
According to an ESPN report the same year, Guerrero caused “friction” among the Patriots’ medical and training staff in 2015, as his methods apparently clashed with organizational protocol.
Moving forward, potentially without Crosby in building, it will be interesting to see how the new coaching staff in Las Vegas adapts to the presence of Guerrero.
From Brady’s standpoint, it doesn’t appear he plans to change his role with the organization anytime soon, and the expectation is that he will continue to be the most powerful person in the Raiders’ building… but not actually in the building.
So far, Brady’s formula hasn’t found success, but if acquiring the first pick in the draft by means of having the worst record in the league is what it takes to bring a franchise quarterback to Las Vegas, maybe the end will justify the means.
x: @raidersbeat

Never forget, Guerrero is a quack who has gotten in trouble numerous times for making medical claims despite not being qualified and hawking products that claimed to prevent or cure cancer among other things. He has no business working for the Raiders.
Get rid of him Brady. He’s detrimental to the team
He won’t. Brady is a b!tch, unlike Al who will tell you face to face what he thinks.
Brady needs his lackeys
Two months ago, it was Brady’s pal Mr. Gray that was the problem. He too was stated to be the eyes and ears of Brady…and he too supposedly ruffled feathers. So I guess Brady has a cadre of stooges in the building?
This is another BS story aimed at insinuating the Raiders are a mess.
