Davante Adams hasn’t talked a lot about his time with the Raiders, but he has taken some gentle jabs at the organization since being traded in October.
In January, Adams talked about “contributing factors” that led to his trade request in October, and he elaborated a little on those details this week with The Athletic’s Mike Silver.
The first issue Adams said he ran into with the Raiders was the decision by the organization to dump Derek Carr…
“If I was Scooby-Doo, I would’ve went, ‘Urrrrrrrrrrr?’ Like, you literally brought me here, you knew the reason why … me going there for Derek; everybody in the world knew that. And then to be in a situation where now you just pull him from me after we had a very productive year? That was the first kind of confused moment that I had.
And then things continued that next year … obviously what they decided to do and some of the moves they decided to make on offense. And things continued the next year again. (Initially), I was trying to feel good about it, more than actually what I was presented with — just the facts of who’s the head coach, who’s my receiver coach, who is the offensive coordinator, who’s calling plays, what the defense looks like, all that stuff.“
Once we got to (2024), it was just a lot of the same. And it was just clear to me that we weren’t being set up to be put in a situation where we could really go and win at a convincing rate. And it was time for me to go.”
Safe to say, there were issues Adams was having with the Raiders before Carr was released, but maybe Carr’s release was the first time he realized he might not want to play out his career in Las Vegas.
Adams had known issues with head coach Antonio Pierce that cropped up during the 2024 preseason, but it’s no secret that he had endorsed Pierce going into the season along with offensive coordinator Luke Getsy.
Adams was right, though, that the 2024 season ended up being more of the same, and the result was another organizational overhaul with a new head coach and GM being hired in the offseason.
And speaking of Adams’ former head coach in Las Vegas, not much has been heard from Pierce since he was fired by the Raiders. It would be interesting to hear Pierce talk about the 2024 season and where it spiraled out of control from his perspective.

The only confusion is how we pay a man to do a job quite handsomely I might add with no work put it. I’m sorry but your playing football for your childhood team making millions. Not enough incentive to play a game? What a joke this is how a spoiled child behaves. Just like Moss did to us was back. They should give the money back how many jobs have you not shown up for and got paid anyways? I’ll wait……….that’s what I thought. Absolutely B.S.
It didn’t spiral out of control. The talent on the team blew, still does, and what talent we did have was hit by injury, see Maxx/Wilkins.
Patriot West left us with Chandler Jones, Davante(2 picks lost), Michael Mayer, Tyree Wilson, Jimmy G, etc. and yet Mark, and some certain fans think we are gonna go out and win the division with the worst quarterback play in the league.
The GM gives us the best draft since the Jacoby Ford draft & we replace him.
This organization drafts Banks tonight get ready for more excrement
I concur Justin, just a spoiled brat. I Justin can’t wait until stafford gets injured it’s not if but when he has injury issues and he’s old. I know let’s put in stafford back up jimmy[clark Kent superman] in to win the game yes this is the same db that got the pine because Devante doesn’t like him. No one does. Teams just keep paying him to be a useless back up. Good luck jimmy G
Davante who?
