Who is the best cornerback in the NFL right now?
The list of good ones is long, but according to arguably the best wide receiver in the league, the top cornerback in the NFL right now plays in the AFC West.
Appearing this week on The Rush with Maxx Crosby, Davante Adams offered high praise to Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain after being asked which cornerback in the league gives him the most trouble.
“Pat’s probably the best cornerback in the league right now. I love his game. I got a lot of respect for him as a player,” Adams said.
“Saying ‘trouble’ is a tough word for me to use because I wouldn’t necessarily say that, but he did, you know, we played each other week one and I would say he won that matchup… I wasn’t necessarily in my best football shape at that point [in the season] and I didn’t convert on a couple balls that I probably should have. He’s a really good player. I think he’s gonna probably have the league in a headlock for the next however long.”
Asked about his perceived rivalry with Surtain, Adams said people “make more of it than they should” and added that Surtain is his “favorite matchup in the league right now.”
Adams also talked about his departure from Green Bay and how he didn’t realize what the Packers had in Jordan Love at quarterback.
“At the time when I was [in Green Bay], I hadn’t necessarily seen enough to say this is for sure what I should do,” Adams said. “But in hindsight, like we talked about, the kid is a f—– baller, man. I’m so happy for him…”
“I haven’t really had a chance to truly sit down and talk with him, but I want to tell him at some point like, ‘I definitely don’t regret changing [teams], but I’m super proud of what you’ve done. If there’s a way I could pull you over here [to Las Vegas] and drag you with me like that, that would’ve been cool, too.'”
