The Jets have turned into the biggest circus in the NFL over the last few weeks, but Davante Adams says he still feels better about his situation in New York than what he had with the Raiders.
On Wednesday, Adams did his weekly segment on the Up and Adams Show, and he was asked about the Jets season of turmoil.
Adams said he never would have guessed the wins would be so scarce in New York but added that he is focused right now on getting away for the bye week.
“What I’m worried about at this very moment is trying to make sure we pack the car seats for this trip that I’m going on, and that’s really all that I’m focused on,” Adams told host Kay Adams.
“If you had bet me a million dollars, I would have taken the bet we would not have only had one victory right now,” Adams continued. “People are obviously going to talk about whether or not it was the right thing for me to do to leave, teasing at the fact that not much has changed as far as the record… It doesn’t bother me at all. I don’t pay any attention to the chatter on the outside. When I say I don’t attention, I literally don’t read any of it.”
Adams wasn’t asked specifically about the Raiders, but his former team still caught a stray in the conversationā¦
“Regardless of whether or not it was the right thing to do, it was the right thing for me to do to come here and change scenery, and I think there’s no denying that things are different,” Adams said. “We haven’t won the games that we were maybe supposed to win or hoping to win, but when you look at the situation I was in in Vegas and look at the situation I’m in here, the way that this offense is… I at least feel hopeful that going into the next game we’ll be able to have a good performance. Just based on different variables in Las Vegas, I started to not feel that way.”
“At least not feeling just helpless and hopeless, that at least makes me feel better knowing I came here and gave it a shot,” Adams continued. “I’m still working with somebody that I have a lot of confidence in [and] still can play ball at a high level. We just got to find a way to execute better and more consistently, and that’s what it really comes down to.”
For all the personal sentiment about the potential he has in New York, Adams has not managed to produce better numbers in his second stint with Aaron Rodgers.
In fact, his statistics are worse.
In three games this season with the Raiders, Adams averaged 6.0 receptions and 69.6 receiving yards per game. With the Jets, he is averaging 5.2 receptions and 55.6 receiving yards per game. He has one touchdown with each team.
On Tuesday, there were several reports around the disfunction in the Jets organization and many believe Rodgers will not be back with the team next year. We don’t know what that scenario would mean for Adams, but there is a high probability his hamstrings won’t hold up if Rodgers isn’t with the Jets next year.
It’s unlikely that Adams is going to sign up for another organizational rebuild, so sooner than later he will probably be at the center of trade rumors again.
Looking beyond the Adams situation, it will be interesting to see how the offseason plays out for the Jets and the Raiders because both teams could be jockeying for a quarterback in the draft.

As I wrote directly to Adam’s, “ho away dude, you are reaping exactly what you deserve. No RIng! PEACE out!
woody johnson is cleaning house. coach was fired (rumored because he wouldn’t bench rodgers) gm fired & more on the way. their offence is about to have a tear down.
No matter how you look at it. It was not a mistake. He left one horrible team to go to another. So anyone in Raiders land who thinks they have a leg up on anyone, should quietly sit down. The Raiders are a horrible organization with just as much if not more ineptness than the Jets. Adams was screwed either way. His mistake was leaving the Packers. Not leaving the Raiders.
That’s total BS he just looks like a idiot for leaving!
