Is Shedeur Sanders going to be the next quarterback of the Las Vegas Raiders?
The idea has picked up momentum in recent weeks as the Raiders continue to pile up losses and get closer to earning one of the top picks in the draft.
It’s not considered a great year to need a quarterback in the draft, but for a team like the Raiders, it’s going to be hard to pass on one of the top quarterbacks in the first round of the draft.
Sanders and Cam Ward are widely considered the top quarterbacks in the 2025 draft, but ESPN’s Paul Gutierrez made a comment this week that will be on the mind of every team considering Shedeur in the draft.
Whoever drafts Shedeur will be getting his dad in some capacity, as well.
“When you look at the tea leaves and you try to put everything together, everything kind of points to Shedeur Sanders when you talk about the connection that he has with Tom Brady [and] having worked out with him before,” Gutierrez said on Raider Nation Radio’s JT the Brick Show.
“As I’ve said before, I’ve said it on Raider television, if you’re drafting Shedeur Sanders, you’re not just drafting the quarterback. You’re also drafting the old man. You’re marrying yourself to Deion as well, for better or worse. I’m not going to go one way or the other here, but that’s just something that has to be considered”
For some teams, the presence of Deion Sanders might not be a big deal. We know the elder Sanders has a relationship with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and it’s no secret that Tom Brady has ties to both Deion and Shedeur.
We also know that Deion is open to the idea of coaching his son at the NFL level, so there’s a chance he could try to leverage himself into a coaching job by means of Shedeur. This has become a major talking point since ESPN’s Adams Schefter brought up the possibility earlier in the week.
Presumably, the Raiders wouldn’t be interested in hiring Deion as a head coach, but could they potentially lose Shedeur to a team that would be willing to do that?
Just another layer to think about as we move into… wait, it’s not even Thanksgiving yet?

First things first. The Raiders have to fix there offensive line problems. If not, putting Shedeur out there in the fire is going to get him hurt. Fix the offense. The season is already over. No playoff aspirations.
Good luck. You may have a point, because if there is ONE OWNER that can be dictated to, it’s Mark Davis. I don’t think Shadeur is that much of a can’t miss product to dictate the HC selection for other teams but the Raiders.
