Deion Sanders Admits He Would Consider NFL Jobs if He Could Coach His Kids

Deion Sanders has been linked to NFL jobs for the last several months, but based on the way the interview processes are playing out, it doesn’t seem like he is a serious candidate for any NFL teams in this hiring cycle.

To some, the draw to hiring Sanders might be the opportunity to get Shedeur Sanders, and Deion admitted on Wednesday that coaching his sons might be the one dynamic that would pull him into the NFL.

“You know what? The only way I would consider [the NFL] is to coach my sons,” Sanders said on ABC’s Good Morning America.

There was a time when Deion’s comments might have been interpreted as a message to the Raiders, but with the no. 6 pick in the draft, there’s no way Sanders could join the Raiders with any certainty that he would coach Shedeur.

Of the quarterback-needy teams in the NFL without a head coach, the Jacksonville Jaguars have the highest pick at no. 5.

Shedeur is expected to be taken within the first three picks in the draft, so the chances of Deion getting to coach Shedeur in 2025 are slim.

Many believe the Raiders will take Sanders in the draft if they get the opportunity and the presence of minority owner Tom Brady is a big reason for that sentiment.

According to Yahoo Sports insider Charles Robinson, Brady hasn’t been shy about sharing his feelings on Sanders and Robinson detailed what he is hearing about those conversations in a report this week.

“From what I’ve been told about Brady’s opinion of Sanders — which he has shared with a handful of NFL coaches and executives over the past 18 months — there is a great amount of respect for Sanders’ focus on preparation, his ability to learn and adapt, his accuracy and determination in the pocket, and his toughness to take hits and still be resilient,” Robinson reported this week.

“I’ve been told that Brady has also been impressed that Sanders has avoided the pitfalls of being thrust onto the center stage of college football’s limelight after transferring to Colorado to play for his father, Deion,” Robinson continued. “For the most part, Shedeur has never become a distraction, developed selfish tendencies or created issues with his public profile or fame that overshadowed his team or his game. He also stayed in school for four years and developed, which is something Brady has repeatedly and publicly said he values in a young quarterback.”

  1. Sad Mark Davis can’t get it done yet!!! Will the next coach be 1 &done also. I’ve been a Raider fan since the late 70’s all I’m seeing is we can’t get the right person to coach the team and win a playoff or Superbowl. Winning comes from the top. At least Al Davis made the right moves to get us a winning season, I don’t see it happening with Mark. Come on it’s time to stop these shenanigans!!!!!

  2. And just how is a team supposed to acquire both his sons without somebody else picking one of them? It’s just BS
