Insider Shares Quarterback He Believes the Raiders Would Take if the Draft were Today

It’s only the second week of November, but many Raider fans are already looking ahead to the draft.

A few beat writers and team media types don’t want to admit it, or might be discouraged to talk about it, but it’s already draft time in Las Vegas.

Obviously, the Raiders will be looking for a quarterback in the draft and Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter was asked this week which quarterback he believes the Raiders would take if the draft were today.

Acknowledging that’s it’s still incredibly early in the process, the name Carpenter offered was Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

“If I had to pick today and not based on who would I pick, but just what I think if the Raiders keep the third pick, I think it will be Shedeur Sanders,” Hondo said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast. “It’s who I believe the Raiders will pick. Again, that’s not me saying I don’t want them, I do want them. You’re asking me what I feel. I would say [Shedeur].”

Most believe Sanders is going to be the first quarterback taken in the 2025 draft, but it’s worth noting that his father has promised to be involved in the draft process. It’s even rumored that the elder Sanders could leverage Shedeur into an NFL job of his own.

League insider Jordan Schultz reported on Thursday that Deion has been involved in no “official” conversations about leaving for an NFL job, but does that mean he has had “unofficial” conversations about taking an NFL job?

Jordan Schultz on X (formerly Twitter): “While speculation continues to grow around the NFL, Colorado HC Deion Sanders has had no official conversations with anyone about leaving for an NFL job – and his sole focus remains on winning at Colorado this season, per multiple sources. pic.twitter.com/WLcuCFWqkI / X”

It’s all speculation at this point, but there does seem to be some signs pointing to the younger Sanders ending up with the Raiders.

He has the relationship with Tom Brady and, so far, Deion Sanders has indicated the Raiders are a team he’d like to see his son play for.

The biggest questions around Shedeur right now mostly involve his draft value.

Is he worthy of a top 5 pick in the draft? Some don’t believe anyone in this year’s draft will be worthy a top pick.

“This year’s quarterback class is not very good in the draft,” Yahoo and FOX Sports radio host Jason Cole said last week. “I asked a few smart NFL Draft guys who [their] top quarterback is this year, where would they have ranked in last year’s draft? [They gave] the same answer: Sixth, behind Bo Nix.”

  1. Stay away from rap boy and his pa. Too much baggage. Cam ward or Jayden Milroe. No one else. No beck no manning no shadeur. Get this right Raiders. On march 15 get the dumpster ready. Commander Minshew and Aiden out the door.

  2. Yes because so many “smart draft guys” got their draft evaluations right . Most thought Bo Nix wasn’t a first round QB . So I’m fine with ignoring most of their opinions, if they say this is a weak draft so what if the QB the organization is there when the raiders pick who give a crap what Jason Come thinks .
