The Raiders have a big decision coming on their next quarterback and one of the young QB prospects that is going to continue to be linked to Las Vegas in the next few months is University of Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
Just this week ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky said he believes the Raiders would be the best fit for Sanders, and we already know Deion Sanders would like to see his son wearing Silver & Black.
If the Raiders decide to target Shedeur in the draft, there’s a chance he won’t be on the board when the Raiders are on the clock with the no. 6 pick. But there’s also a chance Deion could pull an ‘Eli Manning’ type maneuver and try to manipulate the draft to get his son on the team he feels is the best fit.
”It’s not who I would like for him to play for. It’s a couple teams that I won’t allow him to play for,” Sanders said on the Tamron Hall Show last month.
To this point, Sanders has been tight-lipped on where he would “allow” Shedeur to play, and it’s worth noting that he has not singled out any team as an organization he wouldn’t allow Shedeur to play for.
Some have suggested Deion isn’t going to be as “hands on” as advertised, but he basically acknowledged on the Dan Patrick Show this week that he’s going to be orchestrating matters behind the scenes – rather than call out any organizations publicly.
“I’m going to lead them in the right direction,” Deion said about his sons to Patrick. “I would meet with [teams] behind closed doors. I would not call them out. I would not put them on front street and talk about their organization because people work too hard to make it right… I would meet with them privately and talk about my concerns so we could have an understanding.”
From there, Deion said he has already had conversations with a “few” teams about his concerns and, presumably, that means there are teams in the league who already know they would be walking into a hornet’s nest if they draft Shedeur.
So what could Deion’s comments mean for the Raiders?
We know about the Sanders family and their relationship with Tom Brady. With that dynamic in place, the Raiders would not be one of the teams on Deion’s blacklist.
The question then becomes… what does Deion think of the Titans, Browns and Giants?
There has been a lot of smoke around Shedeur going to the Giants and maybe that’s why he has been so comfortable hinting that he might go to the Giants. The Giants have the no. 3 pick, but if Deion has communicated to the Browns that they need to stay away from Shedeur, it’s easy to see how Shedeur could still be on the board with the Giants on the clock.
But if the Giants are not the team Deion wants for Shedeur, the next two teams in the draft (New England and Jacksonville) don’t need a quarterback and that means there could be a path to Las Vegas for Shedeur if the Giants pass on him.
There are still a lot of unknowns, but the important detail to Deion’s conversation with Dan Patrick is that he is behind the scenes trying to orchestrate the team Shedeur plays for.
Whether or not that team is the Raiders is something we might not know until the draft.
The draft kicks off on April 24 and that means we get another 76 days of speculation around all things Shedeur, Deion and the uncertain quarterback situation in Las Vegas.

Whoever drafts him is marrying a franchise degradation for half a decade or longer.
Half a century in the Raiders case.
Why are they pushing sanders so much to be a Raider … don’t need a stat quarterback to fill the stat sheet just one that can win the games and not choke in the playoffs… Jim plunkett not a big stat QB Stabler the Snake him self not a big stat QB but they always know how to win games that count… players on those Raider teams were great offense and defense not just a overpaid quarterback or wide recever… i do like the new coaching staff… just hope they get the players to fit the plan… can hardly wait for next year… long time Raiders fan fan for life… still wondering why the move to Vegas it’s not a football town no home field advantage… and why isn’t Jim plunkett in the hall of fame… the first wildcard team to win a Super Bowl with a bunch of players who didn’t care about stats.. Just win Baby… life Raider life was good… Raider fans stayed together win or lose…we need that back… RAIDERS 2025…
The move to Vegas has put serious money in Mark’s pocket and increased the value of the team or at least added BILLIONS TO THE TEAM VALUE. It starts with the Stadium.
Plus it taught Mark how to dress and got him a girl instead of living in a beat up van. Finally we no longer play him games in a really big toilet bowl. (ggg – Get it, got it, good).
Oh yes, “Prime Time” is the ultimate Carnival Barker and there is only one media market which can manage the circus that he will bring and that is New York. New Yorkers are a different breed that you can’t bluff, this is where every other person is like a Donald Trump mini me, or ” Carne – Barker – JT the Plastic.” Your average Cab Driver will shout Deion down and cut straight through his filibusters of BS. (I have respect for Deion as a Father though and this is what a man looks like as opposed to a boy, you take care of your children.) Deion is the Head Coach of Colorado and will be busy there, but all he has to do is make his comments and the tabloids will them pick up. Is Shedeur Sanders worth it? Shedeur is two things his father was not as a football player: tough and cool under pressure. The answer is yes he will be worth it, IF he is a winner. This is the true grade and worth of a Quarterback and it can be rated and scored in one question. How many wins does that Quarterback represent and bring to the table all by himself? The answer to that question gives you the true valuation of a Quarterback. ( Mark Davis could have traded Derek Carr when he was worth something and brought in Tom Brady to play for us when he actaully wanted to play for us.) Instead, he went to that wannabe Raiders team in the Buccaneers and won them a Super Bowl, you can’t fix stupid and weak. Look, this is not complicated to follow this simple rule Mark forgot, ” You get the best Coaches, then you get the best players and then you just tell them one thing, just win baby.”
Deuces wild RN, deuces wild!
Don’t want him Give me RB Ashton Jeanty and a veteran QB
As a lifelong Raider fan, I’m leaving Sanders’ evaluation to the new GM. Pretty simple, if they determine that he worth the #6 pick they select him. Whether he can become a franchise QB will be determined.
Super dumb comment!
