UPDATE: There is a suggestion that Deion Sanders may have been referring back to his earlier conversation about RUSSELL WILSON. If so, he was telling co-hosts Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson that he didn’t want the Raiders to bring in Wilson.
If that is the case, Sanders was building on previous statements he made about wanting Shedeur to be drafted by the Raiders.
______________
Deion Sanders has been adamant that he wants to be involved in the process of determining where his sons play in the NFL, and for the Raiders that could be an important detail as we move closer to the draft.
A Pro Football Post report in November suggested that Las Vegas is still a “preferred” destination for the Sanders family, and many believe that Shedeur Sanders is the quarterback the Raiders are expected to target in the draft.
“If I had to pick today, and not based on who would I pick, but just what I think if the Raiders keep the third pick, I think it will be Shedeur Sanders,” Hondo said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast last month. “It’s who I believe the Raiders will pick. Again, that’s not me saying I don’t want them, I do want them. You’re asking me what I feel. I would say [Shedeur].”
If Shedeur ends up at the top of the Raiders draft board, it felt like the team got confirmation almost a year ago that the elder Sanders liked Las Vegas fit for his sons.
A February video resurfaced this week showing Deion Sanders imploring Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce to draft Shedeur and Shiloh Sanders, but it’s worth noting that the NFL landscape in Vegas has changed in the last 10 months. The Raiders don’t appear to be on the same stable footing that they were a year ago, and there’s no guarantee Pierce will be back with the team in 2025.
On Monday, Sanders responded to the “draft those Sanders boys” video with Pierce, and confirmed that it was recorded almost a year ago.
Sanders didn’t suggest anything had changed since the video, but it’s notable that he wanted it to be known that the video was not recent.
Standing alone, nothing about Sanders’ comments on X are necessarily alarming, but a video from September along with his recent remarks might be enough to make Raider fans (the ones that want the team to draft Shedeur, at least) a little uneasy.
On September 29, Sanders was a guest on the Nightcap podcast with Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson, and he was asked by Johnson for his thoughts on the idea of Shedeur going to Las Vegas.
“Can I tell you something real quick?” Johnson asked Sanders. “There’s a place out west that could use a quarterback. They don’t have a stable quarterback. They got an owner by the name of Mark Davis…”
Before Johnson could finish, Sanders put his hand up to stop the question.
“We good. We good, though. We good. Leave that alone,” Sanders said, before all three laughed and moved on.
Sanders never cleared up why he didn’t want to talk about the Raiders, but nothing about the video sounded as optimistic as other quotes from the Colorado head coach about the team.
There’s no concrete statement from Sanders in the video, but there is obviously something about the situation between Shedeur and the Raiders that Sanders didn’t want to talk about. He sounded nothing like the coach/father that was imploring Pierce to draft his boys 10 months ago.
Maybe there’s no story here, but Sanders’ remarks in September are at least something to keep in mind as the draft inches closer.
Who knows… maybe Coach Prime will clarify these comments on social media, as well?
As an aside, the NFL draft is still 136 days away. There is still a month left in the regular season and talking points between now and April 25 (i.e. the start of the draft) are bound to change by the week – especially with all the uncertainty around the Raiders right now.

Common sense from reader management and fans should say they don’t want him. Not unless they get them in the third round.
Too much drama. We got rid of one drama queen in Davante so we don’t need the Sanders
