Deion Sanders Denies Rumor Around Raiders, Shedeur and the No. 1 Pick

If the Giants want to draft Shedeur Sanders, will Deion Sanders try to veto the pick?

Sanders has hinted that he will pull an “Eli Manning” if the wrong team wants to draft Shedeur, and a report last week only added fuel to that storyline.

“I’m being told through reliable sources Cam Ward is going to the New York Giants. Guaranteed,” former University of Miami booster Nevin Shapiro said last week on The Pacman Jones Show. “And the University of Miami’s offensive coordinator is going with him. I’m telling you. Holler at me April 25th, whenever the draft is.”

“I’m going to tell you from what’s been shared with me,” Shapiro continued. “Deion [Sanders] won’t let his kid go to the Giants. So right away, whether Shedeur is the better quarterback or not… Deion’s not letting his kid go to New York. He wants him on the Raiders. The Giants are taking Cam Ward and this is from reliable sources.”

Ironically, Deion Sanders was on the same show this week and was asked by Pacman Jones where he thinks Shedeur will be drafted.

“That’s a good one,” Deion responded. “I have no idea. It depends on who’s consistently losing.”

Pacman then brought up the Giants and Deion said he is certain the Giants won’t be trading out of the top pick if they get it.

“Giants are not going to give up that pick,” Sanders said. “The Giants are not giving up that pick. I know that for a fact. Shedeur is going to be the number one pick.”

Pacman then asked Deion to clarify and asked him who the Giants would pick if they got the first-overall pick.

“Shedeur is going to be the number one pick,” Sanders said again, adding that he doesn’t know if the Raiders would pick Cam Ward or Travis Hunter if Shedeur isn’t on the board.

Based on those comments, it doesn’t sound like Deion intends to try to block Shedeur from becoming a Giant. That thought process would be consistent with what he tweeted last week, but it’s probably a good time to remember… it’s only December.

A lot can happen between now and when the draft finally rolls around in April.

Draft season is lying season in the NFL and in a few months, we’re going to find out who was telling the truth in December and who was not.

As of the third week of December, Sanders is the betting favorite (+125) to be the first overall pick with Colorado CB/WR Travis Hunter (+280) slightly behind.

University of Miami quarterback Cam Ward (+1000) has watched his odds of being the first overall pick drop in recent weeks.

  1. Target Sheldur with the first pick , then get a premiere running back in the next round. After that , target best players available for offensive and defensive lines. Maybe squeeze in a draft day trade for a solid corner.

  2. Shedeur Sanders always says tank you God in every Raiders defeat. He wants to play for Raiders and nothing more
