The Raiders and Chargers will square off at Allegiant Stadium next week and it was announced on Sunday that the game has been moved to Sunday Night Football.
For the Raiders, a win would cap off a four-game winning streak, send them to the playoffs, and end the Chargers’ season.
For Derek Carr, the game will also feature an added element. Carr will have an opportunity in week 18 to respond to Chargers’ defensive end Joey Bosa, who was critical of him after the Chargers beat the Raiders 28-14 in week 4.
Neither player will want to talk about Bosa’s comments this week, but you can be sure the Raiders will welcome the added motivation. Bosa’s bulletin board material should translate to a good week of preparation for the Raiders, particularity on the offensive side of the ball.
Carr has been more chippy of late, so if the Raiders win on Sunday, there’s a good chance that Bosa will get a little feedback in the postgame press conference. If the Chargers win, Bosa can happily double down on his comments and Carr will have to wait another year to settle the score.
For what it’s worth, Bosa is having another solid season with 9.5 sacks on the year. He has 7 career sacks against the Raiders and he figures to be a miserable matchup for a Las Vegas offensive line that hasn’t been great this year.

Yo.
bosa was right..carrs gotta step up. i am happy for him he pulled that game out yesterday at the end because his 2 ints and 2 costly sacks hurt us bad. fans would be calling for his head had we lost..
Talk is cheap! It doesn’t matter who said what to who when or where. It’s time to put it all on the field. I agree this is going to be the biggest game of DC’s career. All the crap he’s taken, all the bad mouthing, all the labels that have been put on him; he now has a chance to put all that to rest. He now has a chance to prove that he IS the man who can lead us into the playoffs. Derek is about to play the most important game of his career period! Bosa can say what he wants but now those little comments he made are going to provide Carr with even more incentive to take care of business. I was at the super bowl on January 25, 1981 in New Orleans, Louisiana when we became the first wild card team to ever win it all (the game that officially turned my blood silver and black!). Once you’re in the playoffs, anything can happen! ANY GIVEN SUNDAY, BABY! Let’s go Raiders, shut these haters up! I love you, Nation! RAIDER 4 LIFE!!
Awesome my Raider brother!
Dan:
“…had WE lost? I don’t remember you playing in the Colts game yesterday. What number were you wearing?
Football fans who actually played the game after pee wee ball, never dare use the term “we.” Real players know that respect prohibits that term which is reserved for the players who actually put their bodies and their reputations on the line in the game. The jock-sniffers who never played a down and the fantasy league heroes are the only ones who dare appropriate the word. Well, its also the stolen valor types wearing the fake dress blues with the ebay fake commendation combat medals and talking their phoney “Nam” nightmares down at the mall. WE?????
Yo. You don’t print my comments. What gives holmes?
The best way to shut Bosa up. Is to beat the Sissy Chargers . Period, dot , dash . Easy as that !
Boss doesn’t scare us one bit. All he’s doing is lighting a fire up under our behinds and I will suggest that he stop now before he turns it into a bonfire. We’re most definitely playing the rest of the season for Coach Madden and Coach will be on the sidelines in Vegas. I’m not one to make predictions and even if I was I’d wait for GameDay. All I’ll say is that as everyone has seen all season we’ll keep it close and let Carr do what he does best. The last minute drive for the win. Or we’re going to blow them out and enter the wildcard round as a team nobody has seen in decades.
Ok haters, here’s your chance to fuel our fire. If you’re old enough to remember Super bowl xl we were the last seed and nobody was giving us a chance. We’re still the only bottom seed to win the big game ßo watch out because we love being the underdog

Derek Carr needs to worry about Derek Carr. This is the biggest game of his life. Let’s see how he responds and that will determine whether go forward with him or not.
Talk is cheap and BOZO often times likes to hear his own voice,
SHOWTIME, SUNDAY NITE !!!
A win by the Raiders & it shuts up the so called critics…
Nothing else needs to be said!!
Raiders need to be listening to all the negative talk scared, soft Carr etc. Not a man alive does not want to miss proof that stigma bs.
Until the Raiders beat the chargers, and Derek Carr wins this essentially
Playoff game#2, Joey Boss is going to keep calling D.Carr a soft, scared, sissy.
Sissy blue!!!!
Just Win Baby! Bosa’s comments don’t mean a thing with a Raiders win!!!
I say you start Derek Carr in the first half second half you start Marcus Mariota you could mix and match quarterbacks through the whole game this is not baseball got to do something different every time Marcus Mariota is in there it’s a positive thing that tells me that there would be a welcome change and it would shut bosa up he wouldn’t know what to do mix up the big mouth got nothing to lose but a season
Full quote by Bosa is even worse, “We knew once we hit him a few times, he really gets shook,” Bosa said. “And you saw on [Christian Covington’s] sack, he was pretty much curling into a ball before we even got back there. Great dude, great player … but we know once you get pressure on him, he kind of shuts down.”
Bosa is right. DC is fragile in body and mind.
I’ve never understood the negative talk about DC to begin with……..his record says Nothing about his talent level or his desire to win!!! What is often left out when DC is discussed is the players around him. Who wa the last true big name #1 WR he had to throw to? Brady HAD 3 until a certain spoiled rotten brat threw ANOTHER temper tantrum, Rodgers has at least 1, argubly 2 or 3, Burrow has 2, Herbert has 2, etc…!!! I think I’ve talked enough about the o-line in recent articles. DC has 1 of worst in the league. Yet, despite the shortcomings of this team and the turbulent ride experienced this year, DC has us knocking on the playoffs door!!! Whether its this year or not, I think the WRs deficiencies can be overcome but not the o-lines, we are headed in the right direction with DC as our captain!!!
I wish they’d let Crosby or Ngakoue play on offense as guard or tackle for just a couple of plays to shut Bosa up. He is a great player, just no class.
Bottom line is winning the Super Bowl would be awesome fantastic out of this world but if you can’t win the super bomb baby beat the Chargers
This is Carr’s chance to show Bossa he is wrong and that he can handle the pressure. Both the physical and the psychological. DC definitely showed his toughness against the Colts but he also made numerous mistakes that put the Raiders in tough positions. If Carr protects the ball and limits the ints and fumbles, and can lead his offense on sustained drives…..his team will be in a better position to win the game. DC’s time to either shine or crumble…..I hope Bossa has to choke on his quote.
“JUST WIN BABY!”
