DeSean Jackson Says Davante Adams “Isn’t Happy” with Raiders

It’s been complicated two seasons for Davante Adams as a member of the Las Vegas Raiders, and while there seems to be some stability within the organization at the moment, it will be interesting to see where Adams fits into the team’s short and long-term plans.

Adams is still one of the best receivers in the NFL, but his contract gets complicated after the season, and not everyone is convinced that he’s in a great place right now with the direction of the organization.

If the Gardner Minshew and/or Aidan O’Connell experiment works out, everything should be fine with Adams, but former NFL wide receiver DeSean Jackson said he has talked to Adams, and he believes Davante might be running out of patience in Las Vegas.

“This one’s tough because me and Davante, we’ve talked, and I hate to do it because I don’t want to be the guy that’s ‘Oh, D-Jax said this and said that” but at the end of the day [Davante] isn’t happy,’ Jackson said on the The Herd with Colin Cowherd. “You go from Aaron Rodgers, then you come to the Las Vegas Raiders… and it just didn’t quite work out and so now I just don’t think he’s really that happy there.”

Jackson added that he thinks Adams will stay with the Raiders through the end of the season, but if the team gets off to a rough start, it could get interesting.

Earlier in the week, Ari Meirov, who covers the NFL for The 33rd Team said he believes the Raiders will probably want to get away from Adams’ massive contract after this season.

“[Davante Adams] is probably the one star player that if the team starts off poorly, we’re going to talk a lot about him in trade rumors,’ Meirov said on the NFL Spotlight podcast. “The reason I say that is not just because he might get frustrated because the quarterback play is not good. When you look at Davante Adams’ contract, he has no more guaranteed after this season.”

“When Davante Adams signed his contract, the last two years there are two inflated non-guaranteed base salaries in there… the chances of him seeing that money in 2025 and 2026 is very unlikely, even though [he] is a very good player,” Meirov continued. “In essence, as long as this contract stays the way it is and they don’t adjust it before the season starts, this could very well be his last season in Vegas, anyway. If this team does start off poorly at the trade deadline in November… I think Davante Adams is going to be a trade candidate.”

The one detail that hasn’t been discussed as often is the idea of the Raiders actually getting off to a good start.

There is always the option of restructuring Adams’ contract, and there will be cap-friendlier options that can be discussed if Adams and the Raiders want to stay together beyond this year.

  1. I say, let him go. I’m sick and tired of hearing Devante’s not happy. Who cares. Move on. He’s not all that and a bag of chips anyway. We don’t need any more “Primadonnas.”

  2. DJax was released by the Raiders because he was old and slow and couldnt get any separation. Not surprised if he is stirring the pot. He is a has been. Tae was was pissed when that loser Jumpy Glassapolo and Josh McDouchebag ruined the Raiders last lear. He was throwing passe stretching him out and making him vulnerable for punishing hits. Thats over with. Move on. Djax is gone.

  3. Plus everyone fails to mention Rodgers could be a Raider next year. Everyone always assumes Davante goes to NY but what about when the Jets underachieve and Rodgers reunites with Davante in Vegas to play on a real grass field and not that worst in the league turf they play on at Met Life stadium in NJ. Just think about it is all I’m saying. The organization has already talked about this with Davante I’m sure and Hondo Carpenter has brought it up a few times and he’s the most connected to the organization out of all the beat writers that cover the team.

  4. I must have missed how many rings he and Rodger’s got together…can someone fill me in? And if he had followed Rodger’s he wouldn’t be playing with him anyway while he rode the bench last year and is working on doing the same this season. We all want to win but you are paid good money to play so STFU and yet out there and show us why you cost so much money. Players like this become cancers to a team if you aren’t careful.
