Did Kelechi Osemele Inadvertently Explain Why The Raiders Chose To Move On From Him?

Kelechi Osemele made a few waves on a Bleacher Report podcast last week where he discussed his time in Oakland, offered his thoughts on Marshawn Lynch and Derek Carr, and shared a few notable complaints from his time with the Raiders.

Unintentionally, Osemele may have also brought to light one of the reasons why the Raiders decided to trade him in March.

As pointed out by team insider, Vic Tafur, Osemele was careful with his words and seemed to be sincere. He didn’t throw any haymakers, but he did offer more than a few jabs at his former team.

“I’ll also say this, all the stuff that [Osemele] said today you can see why he was traded,” Vic Tafur said last week on The Athletic‘s State of the Nation podcast. “You can see that he didn’t obviously buy in and you see why they traded him. It was clear to them also this guy’s not really on board.”

For those who haven’t listened to the interview (it’s lengthy), Osemele talked throughout the 87-minute marathon about the direction Jon Gruden was taking the Raiders – and it was never particularly flattering. It wasn’t hard to see why teammates and fans loved Osemele, but also not hard to see why Gruden decided against returning him as one of the leaders of the team.
