Did The Wrath Of Jerry Jones Loom Over Gene Steratore’s Call On Sunday?

By now you’ve probably had time to process just about every angle of analysis on Sunday night’s folded index card debacle.

If you didn’t want another, you’ve entered the wrong link.

This image (below) is one that that many have used to suggest the Cowboys did reach the first down marker.

Here’s the problem. The image is barely any more scientific than Gene Steratore’s folded index card and this is why:

First, the yellow line is still short of the first down. The football would need to be beyond the yellow line to indicate a first down.

The true line should run through the pole.

The next problem involves the angle of the picture.

The yellow line shows where the nose of the football needs to reach, but the yellow line crosses at the ground. The nose of the football is at least three inches off the ground.

You’re Welcome, Lowe’s

This is significant because the higher you move the line up the stick, it becomes visually farther from the football.

As a result, what matters is where the imaginary line would be placed if it were about three inches above the bottom of the stick.

Coincidentally, that’s about where the middle white line is shown (probably a fraction lower).

The fact that Steratore was able to fit a folded index card in the gap (with ease) only adds to the conspiracy.

What was going on in Steratore’s mind in the 20 seconds he stared at the measurement?

After the backlash he received from the Dez Bryant “catch”, why would the NFL allow him to be in this situation in the first place?

We see the lengths Jerry Jones is willing to go to punish commissioner Roger Goodell for suspending Ezekiel Elliott. What might the consequences be for an NFL referee who ended the Cowboys season for the second time in four years?

It’s fair to wonder if Steratore simply wasn’t willing to find out.

    1. Exactly!!! That bastard had it out for us from the beginning. Starting with that bullshit offensive pass interference call on Cook

  1. **** Steratore and the league for conspiring to **** the Raiders again!!! The offensive interference call on Jared Cook’s touchdown was just plain absurd!! They (Steratore) was not going to allow that touchdown because he knew the Raiders were going to beat the Cowgirls and he was going to anything he could to prevent that!!
WHEN IS THIS GOING TO STOP??
AL DAVIS IS DEAD BUT THE LEAGUE STILL HOLDS A GRUDGE AND WON’T LET IT GO. ROGER GOODELL IS INSTRUCTING REFEREES & OFFICIALS TO CONTINUE DOING THIS, JUST LIKE TAGLIABUE!! THE CONSPIRACY AGAINST THE RAIDERS MUST STOP, ITS SO OBVIOUSLY BLATANT WHEN THE REFEREE SMILES AND LAUGHS & ENJOYS SCREWING THE RAIDERS!! THIS IS 2017, HOW MANY MORE YEARS UNTIL IT STOPS OR DO THEY WANT OWNERSHIP UNDER A DIFFERENT NAME THAN DAVIS, THEN WOULD THEY STOP?? I WONDER

  2. I’m still angry from Sunday night, Sean Lee had his hands on Jared Cook way past the 5 yard zone so Cook was simply trying to get off Lee so he could turn around and make the catch! If that had been Jason Written in that same situation, I GUARANTEE you, that offensive pass interference call would NOT have been made. Tell me how a team can beat their opponent and the referees too, how??? And **** the punk *** Cowboys because they knew the refs were helping them out and **** Jason Garrett for smiling after Steratore gave them that controversial 1st down. **** THE COWBOYS and I’m going to laugh when they don’t make the playoffs!

  3. Al Davis was a true maverick, he did much for the game of football. I never wanted to think that the league would continue to hold a grudge on a man, good or bad, in death. This is so third grade behavior. Time for the powers that be to slide on those big boy undies, play within the rules, and input due diligence, and help to make the game fun again. A better think tank that could include more females,,,,talk to Amy Trask she is one women that has it going on. Smart, independent and a logical thinker. Sheesh!

    1. Whatever this machine we call the NFL, the vendetta has to stop!! Quit hating the Raiders!! It is no longer acceptable!
Why do you (the league) continue this farce, Al Davis is long dead, Mark tries to ingratiate himself but the conspiracy continues. I call on Roger GOODELL to recognize this stupid grudge and allow all Raider games to be called fair, just like the other 31 teams in the league! The entire nation was watching so either exile the Raiders out of the league or treat them as one of the 32 teams with a fair shake like the other 31 teams.
