ESPN’s Schefter Names 3 Teams to Watch for Potential Jakobi Meyers Trade

The Raiders continue to put out the message to teams and members of the media that they might not trade Jakobi Meyers, but it has become obvious that they have no immediate plans to extend Meyers’ contract, and the veteran wide receiver said this week he still wants to be traded.

It’s strange situation between Meyers and the Raiders because most organizations don’t prefer to have contract disputes with players like Meyers, who contribute on the field but are also highly respected in the locker room.

The Raiders drafted two rookie wide receivers in this year’s draft, neither of which have stood out to this point in the season, and it might end up that the Raiders will think about circling back to negotiating table with Meyers if they aren’t comfortable with the wide receiver room after the season.

For now, though, Meyers will be at the center of trade rumors until he’s traded, or we reach the November 4 trade deadline without any movement.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, there are three teams aggressively trying to trade for a wide receiver, and one of those teams is in the AFC West.

“The three teams that appear to be most aggressively pursuing a wide receiver before the trade deadline are the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos, according to sources,” Schefter reported on Sunday morning.

There are reasons to believe the Steelers are the team most interested in Meyers, but with nine days until the trade deadline, a lot can still happen.

One detail to consider is the idea that the Raiders might be holding on to Meyers with the anticipation of getting a compensatory pick in the 2025 draft if he signs with another team in free agency. Prior to the season, the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Vinny Bonsignore said he doesn’t think the Raiders will take less than a third-round pick for Meyers because of the potential compensatory pick.

“It’ll be a third-round pick for him,” Bonsignore said on the Vegas Nation First and 10 podcast in August.

“I don’t think the Raiders are going to trade him for anything less because… if you let him walk, you’re probably going to get a third or fourth round pick as compensation.”

  1. I’d trade him to the Donkeys if it’s a 2nd round pick. Otherwise take a 3rd from Pitt or Buffalo. Of course I’d also call up brain dead in NE & get a pick since he had to have him so bad

    1. Brain dead isn’t doing too badly with the Pats. His offense put up some points on a very good Cleveland defense. It appears that NE has turned it around, while the Raider shyte show goes on!😫

      1. McDaniels has always been an above average OC. He however also always been a crappy HC.

You can be a good OC, or DC. That however doesn’t mean you will be a good HC. Sometimes its just easier when you only need to focus on one side of the ball.
