Former Player Predicts Eagles Will Make “Big Move” for Maxx Crosby

The Raiders tried to trade Maxx Crosby once… is there a chance it could happen again?

Prior to trading for Myles Garrett, the Rams were one of the teams known to still be interested in Crosby, but is there another team that could step up with an offer similar to what the Ravens backed out of in March?

If it’s going to happen, former NFL linebacker Bart Scott says the Philadelphia Eagles are the team to watch.

“I know Howie Roseman and I see a big move coming,” Scott said on ESPN’s Get Up this week.

“I’m telling you guys a big move is coming,” Scott continued. “Howie Roseman always has a plan. I believe that Howie Roseman is going to take this [salary cap] space that he has, he saw what happened with Myles Garrett, and he’s not going to be one-upped by anybody. I think Maxx Crosby is going to Philadelphia. I think they have the player in Nolan Smith to trade, and they can mimic the same trade [the Rams made for Garrett].”

Going back to the beginning of the offseason, Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter said that many around the league believed the Eagles were going to be the most aggressive team in pursuit of Crosby.

“There are multiple teams in this, but the name I continue to hear the most from NFL people is they all expect Howie Roseman to somehow find a way to get this done,” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast in March.

The Eagles didn’t end up being the top bidder for Crosby in March, but if the Raiders’ drop their asking price on Crosby, it’s hard to imagine the Eagles wouldn’t be one of the teams at the front of the line for his services.

The Rams offered a trade to the Raiders for Crosby in 2022.

The specifics of the Rams’ efforts to trade for Crosby haven’t been reported, but according to league insider Albert Breer, the Rams made a strong push for ‘The Condor’ four years ago.

“Ahead of the 2022 trade deadline, the Rams were looking for pass-rush help, feeling the loss of 2021 deadline acquisition Von Miller,” Breer reported in a Sports Illustrated column this week “They’d called the Panthers, and after going way down the road on a Christian McCaffrey trade, before the 49ers landed him, they offered two first-round picks for Brian Burns. They made a similar offer to the Raiders for Maxx Crosby. And they went further with the Browns—a package that topped what they’d traded for Ramsey (two firsts and a fourth) for Garrett.”

From the Raiders’ standpoint, it sounds like it will still take a couple of premium picks to get Crosby in a trade.

Every indication is that the sides have mended fences, but Crosby wanted out of Las Vegas just a few months ago and it’s not hard to imagine a scenario where he would welcome a trade once again.
