Maxx Crosby trade rumors have ramped up in the last 48 hours and according to Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter, there are many around the league who expect the Raiders to trade Crosby by Monday at noon.
Additionally, Carpenter said he is hearing from several sources that the Philadelphia Eagles are the team to watch.
“There are multiple teams in this, but the name I continue to hear the most from NFL people is they all expect Howie Roseman to somehow find a way to get this done,” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast.
Also on Monday, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini said the Baltimore Ravens are now in the mix for Crosby, and the Dallas Cowboys are still “closely monitoring” the situation and “remain very interested” in trading for him.
The Cowboys were reportedly preparing to shift their attention Trey Hendrickson as of Thursday evening, but it sounds like Jerry Jones might have a little more wiggle room now that the Eagles are perceived to be the front runner to trade for Crosby.
One other detail that was reported on this week is the matter of Crosby’s contract.
He has a very team-friendly deal in Las Vegas, and NBC Sports host Mike Florio believes Crosby’s contract is something that needs to be addressed if he ultimately leaves the Raiders.
“He’s going to want a new contract. There’s no way he walks out the door with that contract. It’s more than $10 million behind Micah Parsons,” Florio said on PFT Live on Thursday.
“I think that’s one of the reasons for the delay [in trading Crosby],” Florio continued. “You’ve got to work out a contract with him on the way out the door. I’m not saying he definitely [wants a new deal], I’m saying that common sense suggests that he will. He got passed by three guys last year. Myles Garrett, T.J. Watt and then Micah Parsons and there’s more than a $10 million gap between Parsons and him.”
“I would be stunned and I think it would border on malpractice by the agent if you let Maxx Crosby go to a new team that is willing to give up that kind of compensation without a new contract on the way out the door.”
