6 Years Ago, Former Trainer Was Astonishingly Accurate on Who Raiders’ DE Maxx Crosby Was Going to Become

Maxx Crosby has developed into one of the premier defensive players in the NFL, but when the Raiders drafted him in 2019, he was a relative unknown.

Crosby entered the draft with the length and athleticism to play in the NFL, but he was lean and didn’t get a lot of national exposure at Eastern Michigan.

At the time, former All-Pro defensive end Chuck Smith was one of Crosby’s trainers and he was a guest on SiriusXM NFL’s Movin’ The Chains with Jim Miller and Pat Kirwan.

Smith described Crosby as a player and looking back, he was spot-on in his analysis of ‘The Condor.’

“People ask me to describe Maxx and Maxx is an absolute junkyard Pitbull dog,” Smith said of Crosby six years ago.

“He is the kind of kid that’s going to go hard, he’s still developing… but the one thing you like about him… he’s a great effort guy… Maxx is long, he’s tall, he’s quick off the ball, has a great long arm. Maxx Crosby might be the steal of this draft, I’m telling you, man.”

As it turned out, Crosby was the steal of the 2019 draft and is now the face of an NFL organization in Las Vegas.

Along with his prowess on the field, Crosby was named assistant athletic director at Eastern Michigan in April, and for a matter of hours, he was the highest paid non-quarterback in the NFL until Myles Garrett signed his extension with the Cleveland Browns.

  1. Crosby is overrated, gives up on running plays, and never makes a game changing play. He pads his stats in garbage time and fools people by acting cool. Trade him for some real talent!

    1. Wouldn’t call him overrated but it’s a joke he got a payday & they won’t give Kolton one.

Key thing this guy said back then is Maxx was quick off the ball. Nothing Tyree ever did
