Former Raiders’ WR Henry Ruggs was the featured speaker at ‘Hope For Prisoners’ on Tuesday as he was granted a special release to share his story and answer questions.
Ruggs started by sharing the message he would want to give the family of Tina Tintor, who passed away along with her dog after being struck by Ruggs’ Corvette on November 2, 2021.
“I would love for them to meet the real Henry Ruggs and not the one that was escaping from something. I sincerely apologize,” Ruggs said.
“I sincerely apologize for not only being a part of that situation, but the fact my face is always in the news, it’s always in the newspaper. So they have to constantly be reminded of the situation, be reminded of me.”
Ruggs was then asked questions about his future in the NFL, and potentially Las Vegas.
When asked if he would be willing to play for the Raiders again, Ruggs didn’t hesitate.
“Why would I not?” he asked.
And that answer from Ruggs sparks an interesting conversation.
When he is released from jail, should the Raiders consider bringing back their former first-round pick?
Just days after the tragic accident in 2021, Mark Davis said the Raiders were not going to abandon their then 22-year-old star.
“Henry Ruggs is still a human being and Raider alumni and somebody that we want to help,” Raiders’ owner Mark Davis told the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “We’ll be there for him… [we’re] not going to abandon him. He’s part of our family.”
Davis wasn’t talking about bringing Ruggs back at the time, but it’s fair to wonder if he might be open to the idea down the road.
Once he has served his time, should the Raiders consider bringing Ruggs back?

He never apologized for killing Ms. Tintor! Just for putting her family in this situation! **** Ruggs and **** the Raiders if they ever even consider bringing that loser back!
Mark Davis is the best. Give ruggs a tryout.
He served his time and I should only hope that he did something financial for that family. Sure they should bring him back but the problems with young men in Vegas is that night life is toxic for a young man ! All those lights all that money and all those Women. God spared his life sorry for the loss of the young woman and her dog.
Thank you
Hey Lorenzo you may want to read the article on yahoo sports. He did apologize to the family..fyi…
No, he apologized for putting them in this situation, he NEVER apologized for “KILLING” her! Get your facts straight!
Once he has paid is debt he should be free to resume his life. It would be fitting to let him come to camp when his time is completed. He is human and humans do make mistakes. He ruined his entire life in one fatal night as a very young man. Chances are he’s lost his edge and won’t be able to compete but is he hasn’t, more power to him and to us for giving him a chance to claim a part of what he worked so hard for all those years before his screwup. And it does sound like he wants to make amends with her family if allowed and for what good it does.
So, because he was a “Very Young Man” gives him the ability to just forget what he did? And that’s enough to allow this social degenerate to go about and make millions again? Meanwhile the “Young Girl” he KILLED, will never have that chance! I served with a lot of “Young Men” in combat, that were the same age and younger than Ruggs, and they were making life and death decisions, and saving lives along the way. Ruggs made the decision to drive drunk and out of control at that. He was old enough to know better! Society is screwed if we let killers like Ruggs go on with a lucrative life!
Then you think he should pay for the rest of his life regardless of what the court system sentenced him to? And I assume you have never made any mistakes in your life either? This is a sad case where nobody wins regardless. Forever is a long time. Jesus taught us to forgive. Chances are Ruggs won’t make a successful come back, but if by chance he does and devotes a large sum of what he makes to the family, wouldn’t that be better for them than him rotting in hell and they get nothing/ Remeber this is a guy with no past criminal history, so you may think he looks like a thug but in fact he has not been in any type of trouble. He is not a repeat offender or any danger to the public. The prison system is supposed to rehabilate these guys but if you know anything about the system, it will turn a good person into one of those bad guys from being around them all those years. So it makes good guys into bad guys. Just a bad place that makes bad people.
Maybe the bar that served Ruggs 20 plus cocktails should be partially or fully responsible. Or is this more about profit. Get a clue dude.
The bar? are you joking? Ruggs knowingly and with forethought, decided to drive his car that evening knowing full well he would be drinking and then after drinking, made the decision to drive rather than use the myriad of other choices available, some provided by the NFL.
This was a tragic decision on Ruggs part that destroyed a life and caused an incalculable loss to Tina Tintor’s family. This wasn’t the bars fault, he would have just gone to another one.
Get a clue dude? Are you serious? So Ruggs can’t be blamed 100% for his own decision? Someone else that didn’t make a stupid decision should be held responsible for the actions of a grown #ss man? Make that stupid sh#t make sense!!
Laughable. I got an OWI when I was 21. I was fully responsible. Not the bars I went to.
Ya and another bar would have served him drinks if he was 3.0 😳
