#Raiders play-by-play voice Greg Papa has an idea of what the Raiders need to do at wide receiver.
“Keep Amari and start over,” Papa said Thursday on his 95.7 The Game radio show.
Whatever happened between Crabtree and the team last year seems to have been something that Papa isn’t interested in bringing back for an encore.
The Athletic’s Vic Tafur reported in February that Crabtree will be back next season, but more recently seemed to offer the idea that Crabtree could soon be in limbo again:
“We have written a lot about Michael Crabtree, Marshawn Lynch and Bruce Irvin, and while Reggie said Crabtree is in the team’s plans and Gruden has raved about Lynch and Irvin, anything is still possible. Especially if players are asked to and don’t restructure or take pay cuts.”
Other reports have indicated Crabtree will be asked to take a paycut.
Whatever the case, Greg Papa has offered his assessment of the Raiders side receiver situation and he’s okay with every wide receiver not named “Cooper” following Crabtree out the door.
Based on other comments he has made, Papa is a big fan of Seahawks free-agent-to-be Paul Richardson. It will be interesting to see if general manager Reggie McKenzie and Jon Gruden are of a similar mind.

They want all these guys to take paycuts, yet all the other functional teams are paying big money for free agents. Cooper is nothing special, why are we so big on keeping him? He hasn’t really impressed in his years there, compared to Crabtree, who was the main target for the 12-4 season. Now Crabtree has problems, between his political bs and his thuggish behavior (see fights with Talib) and I don’t think he deserves to be back, but why is it that we have no money for free agents, no money for the guys we have, and we have soo many wholes? Oh ya, because our QB is wayyy overpaid and our offensive line isn’t far behind. They didn’t deliver last season, especially the greedy fat bastard, Donald Penn. He should be cut, and the other guys should take some pay-cuts, or cut them too and start over. The first guy to go should be McKenzie, he hasn’t done anything to help the team since hes been there. Oh wow, he drafted Mack because Buffalo didn’t….I don’t care, we have a failing team and we aren’t going anywhere doing the things the way Reggie McKenzie does them. Cut Lynch, Crabtree, Cooper, trade Carr, keep Bowman, and stop going through the post-season asleep and lets get a decent team here. Each year, we just get worse and worse.
Any success that the raiders had came from Derek Carr. Can’t succeed in this league without a QB. Raiders biggest problems for the most years is the D. Let’s not get on Crabtree and the satisfactory offense that took place last year. Even when the raiders had Namdi, the D was still mediocre. Honestly the defense hasn’t been good since Jon Gruden left. The offense isn’t the problem. Yes get jordy Nelson if u can, also another Free agent RB. But the raiders have to stop wasting draft picks on injured players. Need someone who can contribute right away like MACK DID. Jon Gruden is finna cut the bullshit and get straight to it. But it’s defense, the raiders defense hasn’t been good since gas prices went up!

We need to use codrelle Patterson more and get a better third receiver. Roberts is a 4/5 not a 3
