Michigan defensive tackle Maurice Hurst would fit perfectly into the Raiders new defensive scheme under Paul Guenther.
The problem is no one is willing to touch him because of a pre-existing heart condition he played with in college.
Most teams have reportedly taken Hurst off their draft boards – the Raiders apparently being one of those teams.

Whatever the nature of Hurst’s condition, he hasn’t removed his name from the draft and is hoping to have his named called on Saturday.
Been through adversity my whole life, just waiting for the right place to find me! This is my process 🙏🏾

The question is, with so many picks in the draft and having such a need at defensive tackle, why wouldn’t the Raiders take a gamble on Hurst?
That’s a question maybe only a doctor can answer, but if he was cleared to play at Michigan, it would be interesting to know why so few teams are willing to give him a chance in the pros.

Most people don’t remember him or his tragic death. I couldn’t imagine the pairing of him and Russell, not to mention Lance Johnstone. Terrible tragedy over an accident.
Considering some of the other picks and risks I say draft him, let him play and do obviously what he loves.
I say take him. Like most of us who play the sport we love we all would die trying. He would make a great Raider and would play with a grudge from not being selected earlier.

What was that you said? I missed it. Oh wait!!!
I can’t help but to feel bad for him.
Got him. They could have a nice pass rush with PJ Hall, Khalil, Bruce Irvin, and Justin Ellis eating blocks to free them up. Moving Irvin to Rush End is gonna be huge, as his only role will be rushing the passer.
