Henry Ruggs’ Defense Team Seems to be Placing Blame on First Responders

Henry Ruggs is facing 50+ years in jail for multiple charges including a DUI resulting in death. Based on the evidence that has been made public to this point, his legal team has a very difficult challenge ahead.

We know that Ruggs’ lawyers will explore every avenue to defend their client and on Wednesday we got a little insight into one of the arguments they are trying to make.

According to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Ruggs’ lawyers have filed court papers stating that they have a witness claiming that firefighters “were in a position to extinguish the vehicle fire while it was in its infancy stages and failed to do so… [and] did not attempt to extinguish the fire at Ms. Tintor’s vehicle for approximately 20 minutes, at which time the entire vehicle was engulfed in flames.”

Based on everything we’ve heard about the tragedy on November 2, there were multiple witnesses at the scene of the accident (not to mention video evidence) so the timeline of events should be something that officials can piece together.

From the standpoint of public opinion, though, it won’t be particularly well-received if Ruggs’ lawyers go the route of casting blame on the first responders. Not in a case like this that could have been so easily avoided in the first place.

For what it’s worth, Clark County has already responded via their verified Twitter account…

  1. Enough with the bs stories
If the raiders want any chance of being winners they need to part ways with Derek Carr

  2. I agree…. Derek Carr needs to go! We need a mobile quarterback. He can’t take us to the top. He can’t help, throwing the ball to the other team. IJS

  3. I think it’s ashame when you take someone’s life knowing you were drinking and behind the wheel going 156 miles an hour own up to it you play the victim well I don’t feel one bit sorry for what he did and shame on him

  4. Some of youse are some lame fans. If you cant see Carrs talent you dont know the game and should probably stick to tennis, golf or NASCAR.
