HOF’er Tim Brown Says Raiders’ Players Think They Are OK, But They “Really Aren’t”

Even by the Raiders’ standards, the last two months have been one of the most challenging starts to an NFL season in recent memory.

With convincing wins over the Broncos and Eagles, the team responded surprisingly well to losing head coach Jon Gruden. But in the wake of Henry Ruggs’ tragedy, the Raiders have played arguably their two worst games and their once-promising season suddenly seems to be circling the drain.

Several players have suggested that the team’s off-field issues aren’t affecting the team on the field, but former Raiders wide receiver Tim Brown isn’t buying it.

Brown posted a message to the Raiders on Monday night via his verified Twitter account:

“24 hours later I’m reminded of the 89 season when in training camp we lost a starter and a leader on our team. We couldn’t visit him or text him to say I got your back, he was gone forever! It took the team almost half the season to EXHALE! Right now everyone thinks they are OK, but you really aren’t! The day will come when you can breathe again and move on. Keep fighting boys, a better day is ahead!”

Presumably, Brown was referencing the tragic loss of defensive back Stacey Toran, who passed away in an automobile accident just a month before the start of the 1989 season. The Raiders started out that year 1-3 before winning 7 of their next 10 games.

Of course Ruggs’ situation is a little different, but considering all the Raiders have been through this year, there is only so much the players can be expected to compartmentalize with affecting their play.

  1. Even Tim Brown knows Derek Carr is trash.Timmy probably wiukd have missed catches fumbled balls to get off the team withbDerek Carr

    1. If you say he’s trash can you give 10 qb’s in the NFL right now that you’d take over him? This isn’t a yelling match just give us 10 names.

      1. 1Tom Brady 2Aaron Rogers 3Patrick Mahomes 4Justin Herbert 5Lamar Jackson 6dak Prescott 7joe borrow 8 Mat Stafford 9Josh Allen 10 Russ Wilson 11 kyler Murray… maybe even Matt ryan there’s 12

  2. Dude how can someone who is clearly illiterate ever throw shade on a respectable NFL quarterback. Keep up the great work at Arby’s you ignorant piece of ****.

  3. I love raiders and I want to win like super bowl
    Marcus allen
    Long
    Bill pikel
    Lester
    Mike
    Etc

  4. Derek Carr is a good QB. He could win a super bowl. But he can’t win it alone. He needs a DEFENSE, like Tom Brady has had for all of his SB wins. Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson weren’t anywhere near as good as Carr. But they had great defenses backing them up. Plunkett won two SBs, not because he was an elite QB, but because he had a great defense backing him up. FIX THE **** DEFENSE. THEN the wins will pile up, and that means in the playoffs, too.

  5. Thanks for your marvelous posting! I certainly enjoyed reading it, you’re a great author.I will be sure to bookmark your blog and will often come back in the future. I want to encourage yourself to continue your great posts, have a nice evening!
