In his last collegiate game, Shedeur Sanders turned in one of the worst performances of his NCAA career, and while Colorado’s 36-14 loss to BYU in the Alamo Bowl might not hurt his draft stock, it’s worth noting that Sanders didn’t have a perfect draft profile going into the game.
There will be plenty of time to break down Sanders as a prospect, but Fox Sports’ host Jason McIntyre is among a group that believes there is an off-field situation that might cause NFL teams to hesitate on Sanders.
“The one team that definitely makes sense for Shedeur Sanders is the Las Vegas Raiders,” McIntyre wrote this week. “Sanders is a big-time star, but I see a lot of backyard football in him — similar to Caleb Williams.”
“Sanders has only played football for his dad dating back to high school, where his dad was the offensive coordinator at Trinity Christian in Texas,” he continued. “Then they both went to Jackson State. Then they both went to Colorado. If your team drafts Shedeur, just know that the clock instantly begins ticking on Deion Sanders being your next head coach. I’m not sure how many coaches will push back against this ahead of the draft.”
The Giants currently hold the no. 1 pick in the draft and every indication is that they plan to take Sanders if they hold on to the pick.
There have been rumors that Sanders doesn’t want to play for the Giants, but that narrative took a hit this week when Shedeur raved about the custom Giants cleats that were being made for him.
“We know where we going, baby. You’ll see ’em in the cleats later on this week,” Shedeur said earlier in the week.
“The team might trade up,” his brother Shiloh answered.
“You can’t get higher than [pick] one,” Shedeur then said with a laugh.
As of now, the expectation is that Sanders will be the first player taken in the draft, but there’s a lot of time between now and the end of April.
Sanders and draft counterpart Cam Ward didn’t do themselves any favors in their respective Bowl games, and it will be interesting to see if Alabama’s Jalen Milroe gets a little more positive attention as we move closer to the draft.

Tom Brady will find the right guy, and I don’t think it’ll be any of the guys mentioned in this article.
