After Latest Report, Host Discusses “Fractures” in Raiders’ Organization

Are the Raiders and Pete Carroll moving in the direction of a divorce at the end of the season?

League insider Ari Meirov talked about an ongoing disconnect between Carroll and GM John Spytek on Tuesday, and it certainly felt like the groundwork was being laid for a scenario where Carroll isn’t the head coach of the Raiders in 2026.

Yahoo and FOX Sports host Jason Fitz said he saw the report on Carroll and Spytek and it brought him back to a comment made by a former beat writer covering the Raiders.

“[Steve Corkran] told me years ago, and it’s always been stuck in my head. When organizations go into save themselves mode, you know everything is lost,” Fitz said on the Graph and Wasted Show.

“When I saw that report today, the very first thing I thought is now you got agents and you got people reaching out to insiders that are getting out that information… Spytek’s team wants to make sure that everybody knows it’s not Spytek, it’s Pete. Now we’re going to start to see Pete’s team start to say, ‘Hey, it’s not me, it’s John.'”

“These are the moments that you start to see the fractures,” Fitz continued. “We’re going to find out who actually has the power. Let’s go all the way back to the first press conference. When we couldn’t get a straight answer on who was in charge of things, it’s never Kumbaya. Nobody’s sitting by the campfire saying, at the end of the day… there are going to be times when you got two guys on a show that you just don’t agree on things, right? There has to be a way you figure that out.”

“The fact that Pete and John Spytek couldn’t give us a straight answer on how they would deal with 1v1 conflict, to me, he said everything about what was wrong from the beginning. So now I think you’ve got a front office and Tom Brady that are both using their connections to make sure, ‘Hey, look, we wanted to draft young guys, play young guys and just start this rebuild. The coaches aren’t doing it.’ It’s save yourself mode.”

Based on the report from Meirov, there seems to be a message from the Spytek/Brady corner of the Raiders’ building that Carroll’s job is not necessarily safe after the season.

That’s an interesting message to send considering there are seven weeks left in the season and Spytek still has to work with Carroll for at least another month and a half.

As far as the power structure goes in Las Vegas, it’s hard to imagine Mark Davis would have given Carroll control over the roster. If anything, it would make sense that Spytek has deferred to Carroll but has control of the roster along with Brady.

Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter talked about the power structure within the Raider organization before the start of the season, and he believed at the time that Spytek has final authority.

“Ultimately, John Spytek, it’s his call. But he likes to do, at least he has up to this point, a very collaborative approach with Pete Carroll,” Carpenter said on the Las Vegas Raiders Insider podcast in September.

“John [Spytek] has not told me this and Pete [Carroll] has not told me this. But people within the organization have made it very clear to me that if John and Pete were to disagree, for the most part, John is going to go with Pete. That’s what people in the organization have said to me,” Carpenter continued.

“I think there are a few places on the roster you can look at, and several places maybe on the roster you can look at and say that that probably meshes with what I’ve been told… I know some organizations where the general manager does not give a rip what anybody thinks, but Pete likes to listen to all of his coaches, so does John, to John’s credit, take that information and assimilate it, then Pete and John hash it out and talk about how they want to do it.”

  1. The organization is a twenty car crash. The product that the Raiders have put on the field
recently is a twenty car pile up.

  2. MARK DAVIS ENTERTAINS SPICE GIRLS WHILE HIS TEAM GETS BLOWN OUT

While Mark Davis’ team was getting blown out again, he was seen hanging out with three would & wanna be Spice Girls in his luxury box, reportedly. They were all wearing sunglasses and anyone attending these games should be wearing a bag over their head for even being at one of these games. Mark Davis did not appear to be paying attention to his team and this is not a new problem. He is not serious about winning and this team has thrown in the towel, we should too in the form of a boycott. Why Boycott? This team is not just irrelvant to football it is irrelvant to sports in general. Mark Davis’ team is making a profit with out winning in this town and they are content to be losers. That is not accaptable, so let the call go out to abondon ship and BOYCOTT.

Mark is not true to his fathers legacy and vision so he should just sell it. If Al Davis loved this team more than his son, is this why Mark is destroying it? When a team is as far as the raiders are under the salary cap, they are not committed to winning. This is the number one sign your team has given up, they are not trying to compete anymore. The PR spin is that Mark Davis’ team is trying to build a team like Detriot. Wait, WTF, Detriot? We call BS, Amik Robertson and Rock Ya Sin both start for Detriot because we are too cheap to keep talent like this anymore. THE RAIDERS ARE RUNNING A MINOR LEAUGUE TEAM, BOYCOTT THIS BS!

    1. Mark and his bad decisions are the root of the team’s ineptitude. Hiring a rookie Brady to lead the team!

  3. Mark Davis is an idiot Raider fan cense 1968 I am done ! To many years supporting this team ! I paid 500.00 to go to this **** show and a flight from Washington, I buy two tickets for me and my wife every year to see them live it’s very expensive , and I can’t do this any more . I’m done !
