Believe it or not, the big news around the NFL this week hasn’t been about the Super Bowl or the teams playing in the Super Bowl.
Most fans don’t particularly care for the Philadelphia Eagles or Kansas City Chiefs, and it’s the news and rumor cycle that carries NFL headlines even during the week of the biggest event on the league calendar.
This week, Browns defensive end Myles Garrett went public with his trade request and within minutes, The Athletic’s Dianna Russini jumped in and shared a text on the idea of Garrett potentially joining Maxx Crosby and the Raiders.
In theory, Garrett to the Raiders would be exactly what the team needs in a division with Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert. But it sounds like the idea of Garrett to Las Vegas might be a pipe dream for Raider fans.
“Myles wants to play for a contender or at least somebody that is close to contending,” Russini said on the Scoop City podcast. “So [that] kind of killed my Raiders idea. It wasn’t my idea, actually. It was a GM who said the readers should consider trading for Myles Garrett to pair him up with Max Crosby. What better way to take down Patrick Mahomes than that way? There’s your answer, but I doubt that that’s going to happen.”
For the Raiders, one of the biggest challenges in the weeks leading up to free agency is going to involve their efforts to change the perception of the organization.
But first, Tom Brady and company probably need to address the culture within the building.
In December, Maxx Crosby compared his situation in Las Vegas to what Garrett has been dealing with in Cleveland.
“At the end of the day, I agree with what Myles said. I’m on the same boat” Crosby said on The Rush on December 24. “I want to win. You know what I mean? I want to know there’s a real plan and execution behind it.”
As of now, it seems like the team is buying into Pete Carroll, but with no clear QB1 and plenty of other questions around the roster, will the Raiders be able to lure players to Las Vegas for reasons other than nice weather and friendly tax rates?

First of all i was wrong about brady i thought he was going to turn it into a patriots II … i like the coaching staff they are putting together… good football minds and experience … young or old they are RAIDERS now and I’m already thinking about next year and getting back to RAIDERS football just like the OAKLAND days… as far as Myles G it would be great to have MC and MG with someone to plug the middle… but i was wrong and i admit it and wish this new RAIDERS team and coaching staff the best … RAIDERS… ps that was a fumble not a tuck… the Zebras made a bad call… just like at Pittsburgh and denver all were AFC Championship games… would have been great to see OAKLAND vs dallas in the Super Bowl back then…both in their prime back then…
Wanting to win a SB rules out Myles coming to the Raiders. Otherwise, it would be great if they could trade him, straight up, for Crosby!
