Raiders Could Soon Have Another Strong-Armed QB Trade Option to Consider

The Raiders are expected to cast a wide net in their search for a franchise quarterback and one potential trade option could come from one of Tom Brady’s former teams.

A year ago, the New England Patriots took North Carolina quarterback Drake Maye with the no. 3 overall pick and later hedged that pick in the sixth round by selecting Tennessee quarterback Joe Milton III.

Based on his first NFL season, the Patriots have their quarterback of the future in Maye, and there might not be a better time than the present to see what kind of trade value they can get for Milton.

According to Boston insider Greg Bedard, there are rumblings around the league that Milton is going to be available.

“I thought the Patriots would hold off on entertaining a trade of Joe Milton, who was drafted in the sixth round (193rd overall) last year, for at least another season, but there’s increasing belief around the NFL that the Patriots are at least contemplating a trade of Milton this offseason,” Bedard wrote in the Boston Sports Journal last week. “Again, I’m not saying he’s on the block right now, but the Patriots will likely consider it when everything settles with the front office and coaching staff.”

It’s hard to place a value on Milton, but he has arguably the strongest arm in the league and raised a few eyebrows in his limited time on the field in 2024.

Milton turns 25 in March, and he should have enough upside for a team like the Raiders to consider.

Generally, an organization wouldn’t move on this early from a quarterback like Milton, but with so much invested in Maye, the best option for the Patriots might be to get a mid-round pick for him and continue to build their roster around Maye.

Just something to think about as the Raiders prepare to move into the offseason with a tremendous amount of uncertainty around the quarterback position.

  1. I feel Accuracy is more important than strong arm if not accurate. I say we need to grab Hendon Hooker from Detroit Lions.

    1. Really have to have both … because the top guys do now… and not be flat on your back much.

  2. I’m starting a list of magical solutions who are going to solve the Raiders QB situation. Only ones I’ve heard or read of; In no particular order; Keep Aiden O’Connell, Desmond Ridder, or Gardner Minshew. Draft Shedeur Sanders by trading up or with 6th overall. Draft Jackson Dart, Will Howard or Jalen Milroe by trading back into 1st Rd or with 2nd rd pick. Draft Dillion Gabriel, Quinn Ewers, Will Rogers or Brady Cook on day 3. Trade pick for Vikings J.J. McCarthy, Daniel Jones, or sign Sam Darnold. (I guess just whoever the Vikings don’t want) Trade for Hendon Hooker, Trade for Joe Milton. Trade/Sign Aaron Rodgers. Trade / Sign Matthew Stafford. Sign Marcus Mariota, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, Zach Wilson, or Trey Lance.
I know I’m missing some names, it’s really hard to keep up, but the guy gotta be on this list

    1. You forgot Brady … after building HIS team he returns at 50 to stop Mahomes… again 😉

So you have to pick one .. who you picking?
