We are a little more than a year into Tom Brady’s tenure as a minority owner of the Raiders, and the more time passes, the more it’s starting to feel like his presence in the building might not be as positive as advertised.
Not only have the Raiders been worse on the field than they were a year ago, but the situation behind the scenes appears to be getting more complicated, as well.
Last week, a report said the dysfunction within the organization is as bad as it has ever been and based on a report in the last 24 hours from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, it sounds like Brady’s list of doubters is growing – even within the building.
“So much was said about what Brady would actually be doing as a minority owner, and I can tell you that teams around the league were watching nervously, worried the Raiders might get the full benefit of the ‘Brady Way,” Russini reported on Saturday.
“The first sign of that new order? The arrival of Alex Guerrero. Yes, that Alex Guerrero — Brady’s longtime trainer and business partner. Guerrero, the Raiders’ wellness coordinator, isn’t just a confidant; he’s the minority owner’s eyes and ears in the building when Brady is working for Fox or back in Florida with his kids.”
“Brady hasn’t been in the facility more than a handful of times this season, but he is involved every day, communicating with Guerrero, owner Mark Davis, GM John Spytek, coaches and players.”
Russini quoted a player and staffer, who both suggested the organization doesn’t have an obvious plan, and it seems clear from the outside that Brady is determined to run the Raiders from a distance.
Russini’s report is in line with what other beat writers and insiders have reported in the last few weeks, and it sounds like head coach Pete Carroll’s chances of holding on to his job at the end of the season are relatively slim.
For what it’s worth, a report in April said Carroll signed a three-year, $45 million deal with the Raiders in January, and if that is accurate, his buyout would be upwards of $30 million if Brady and his merry men make the decision to move on from Carroll after the season.

Pete will turn 🛞 s around he just needs a bEtter QB and line..he will be back
The line will struggle as long as he keeps his incompetent son as the O line coach. Unfortunately I don’t think he will fire him so Pete will have to go in order for that to happen.
Did Brady have any influence when McDaniels was hired?
Yes, but this is what cowards like Brady does. He runs things behind the scenes with his lemmings in place cuz he can’t handle the responsibility of being wrong.
He has scapegoats in place for him so that everyone else get the blame while Brady can play the “I really don’t have much influence here”.
I blame it all on Al Davis. As great as Al was as an innovator and ahead of his time with diversity hires, his refusal to adapt with the times and his penchant for vendictiveness, diminished the end of what had been an historic career. He also wasn’t into succession planning, doing little to nothing to prepare his son Mark to carry on once he aged out.
Al has nothing to do with Mark. Mark chose to be a useless POS
He raised Mark, so he had a lot to do with the final product.
I trust that Pete Carroll and Geno Smith tenor with the Raiders are gone. Good riddance
Hope so, but no telling what Brady’s next move will be. So far, Brady has only made the team worse. I wonder how long Mark will tolerate his inability to improve the team? The upcoming draft is of upmost importance to the team’s future. All I can say is that Spytek’s first draft has not made much, if any, impact.
I think Tom Brady is a huge asset for the Raiders. It all comes down to who we get as a franchise quarterback next year. We need to sell the farm to obtain a future top 5 quarterback. I truly believe Brady will make that happen next year. If it does not happen…then maybe we can question the benefits of the GOAT.
