Is Jay Gruden going to be the Raiders next Quarterbacks Coach?

Could Jay Gruden be the next Gruden to join the Raiders?

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, it’s a real possibility and there is a chance that the younger Gruden could find himself working directly with Derek Carr.

“Many expect [Jay Gruden] to take the rest of this season off and then potentially resurface next season on the same staff as his brother, Oakland Raiders head coach Jon Gruden,” Schefter reported on Sunday. “Interestingly enough, the Raiders did not hire a quarterbacks coach this season, and the position is vacant on their staff. It could be the perfect move, sliding Jay Gruden into the QB-coaching job to work with his brother next season when the Raiders move to Las Vegas.”

It was a strange decision that Gruden made a year ago to not hire a quarterbacks coach, but most assumed that was because Gruden himself wanted to occupy the position – along with all the other hats he wears around the building.

If Jay did end up joining the Raiders, he would be the third Gruden in Las Vegas next year with Jon’s son, Deuce, already on staff as a strength and conditioning assistant. Deuce had previously worked with Jay in Washington.

  1. Of course he will Mark Davis has turned over the organization 2 Gruden the cult leader. Gruden played Davis like a genius something Gruden is far from being as he has made so many poor decisions n cost Raiders a lot with his horrible choices. Gruden will b around longer than he deserves due 2 Davis being mentally challenged. Wow if Al Davis could see all this he would kill that retarded son of his

    1. Your comment is so ignorant to the game that I can only think that you are paid to be click bait

    2. I had my reservations about bowl cut Davis. That being said he has done something big Al never could. He is moving the Raiders into a stadium that already feels like home for the Raiders. Let us not forget big Al chose Gruden over Belichek. I think big Al would be suprisingly proud of Lil Davis.

    3. Wow I see you have some anger management issues and you have no idea what you’re talking about. Whether you like the trades Gruden has made or not. One of them has gotten the Raiders a young stud at RB the other a young stud at safety. Gruden has also turned the squad from the oldest to one of the youngest with some quality rookies, second year players and free agents. If he hires his brother..so what. Coaches hire their friends and relatives all the time.

  2. John Gruden’s claim to fame is one Super Bowl win which was won with team that Dungy built. Davis is definitely drinking the gruden Kool Aid.

  3. IDK WHY WE DO NOT NEED HIS AZZ CARR DOES NOT NEED A LOT OF PEOPLE IN HIS EAR WE DOING OK NOT GREAT DONT MESS UP NOW WE GOT GREEN BAY NEXT LET’S GO RAIDERS

  4. All this negativity is par for this course. As it always has been, it’s us against the world, Raider Nation.

  5. Click bate negative comments , not real Raiders fan. Knows absolutely nothing about football. Probably a little girl from San Francisco.
Gruden is building a Superbowl team.
    Real men wear black
Win loose or tie Raiders till I die.
Haters go back to San Francisco
