Josh Jacobs Clearly at Odds With Raiders on His Injury Status

Josh Jacobs left Sunday’s game against the Eagles with what was reported to be a chest injury – although it was never clear when or how the injury might have occurred. On his final play of the game (an 8-yard touchdown run with 1:45 remaining in the first half) he was barely even touched.

Shortly after the game, an NFL Network report indicated that Jacobs “avoided a major injury” and was expected to be fine. Jacobs posted his own injury update at around the same time.

On Monday, Raiders head coach Rich Bisaccia gave an update on Jacobs from the team facility.

“Josh Jacobs ended up with a chest contusion so he should be fine. We didn’t think there were any issues with him today. He had a good workout today,” Bisaccia said.

But shortly after Bisaccia’s update, Jacobs seemed to object to the team’s update on his health.

“I do not have a chest injury tired of explaining this,” Jacobs posted on his Instagram page. He added a blue hat emoji to the bottom of his post which would imply that he believes someone is lying about his injury (if he even has one at all).

Raiders Report Mitchell Renz on Twitter: “Josh Jacobs posted on his Instagram story that he doesn’t have a chest injury, despite head coach Rich Bisaccia saying it yesterday. Jacobs left Week 7 after a TD run & never returned. He did practice on Monday and should be good to go Week 9 vs. the Giants pic.twitter.com/tPhBUvtw4D / Twitter”

If Jacobs is healthy, it would be easy to understand why he doesn’t want rumors swirling about another injury. Durability has been his biggest issue as a pro and he will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2022 season. If Jacobs is perceived to be a running back who can’t stay healthy, he’ll be hard-pressed to maximize the money in his next contract.

Or maybe he just doesn’t like stories in the news about him that he doesn’t perceive to be true.

For what it’s worth, this isn’t the first time Jacobs hasn’t been on the same page with the team regarding injuries. But in the past it has generally been the team downplaying the injuries that Jacobs was dealing with.

  1. Can’t we all just get along, geez. Fix whatever is wrong the right way. Raiders are a roll stay there , just win baby!!!!!!!

  2. Just let him go, either he’s ok or not he hasn’t been the same since the beginning of the season.

      1. Just like that? lol. You better say a valid reason why i should stfu otherwise you can just SYAU… dumbass.

          1. Seriously STFU. “Let him go” is more than enough. The only one who should give an explanation as to why is you, why the F should they just let go a pro bowl level RB .. Dumb sh*t

    1. Because of injuries he hasn’t played much but has looked healthier and more productive the last two games. If you mean just quit talking negatively about him I would agree. You can’t mean to cut him by your “let him go” comment. That would be totally ignorant.

      1. Of course, cutting or releasing him wouldn’t make any sense. Yes, he’s been playing better the last couple of games. He’s a good player when healthy. Just saying, in my opinion, maybe it wouldn’t be wise to give him a new contract in the future. He even started the season on the injury report.

  3. To be honest,I think the Raiders needed a reason to give Jacobs extra time off without other teammates suspecting special treatment,at the same time, its a good strategy ploy,Go Nation

    1. Why remove him from the game against the eagles for the second half. Let him play if no injury ??

  4. I like Josh but I preferred to keep mad max and continue upgrading the defense first then a running back on my 1st priority..

  5. Sounds like the media is trying to rattle the Raiders. They expected the Gruden thing would destroy them but it made them stronger so mow the media needs to rangle some stories in to rattle the team

    1. Jacobs refuted something his own coach said – what does the media have to do with this, exactly?

  6. Who really gives a ****…..we on a roll & just played two of our very best games of the year so far with our interm coach. The media makes this horseshit bigger than it is & the Raiders are not going to let Jacobs walk. That would seem like our GM having a brain injury if that were to occur. Dude ran over 1,000 yards his first to seasons even through the fashionable sophomore slump that most rookies go through….

    1. Agreed, 2x 1000 yards seasons he plays hard for us on every play. Keep the media off our backs the derailment didn’t happen. Stay fired up and “JUST WIN BABY”…

  7. It kind of seems Jacobs is not a family first let’s be a team type guy. Seems very much a me me player and doesn’t fit with how the team is running. He was quick to bash Gruden and just seems like he’s all about the money no loyalty to the team and they should get rid of him. TOXIC!!! Can’t have that with this team.

    1. He has every right to speak his mind regarding Gruden and seems like labeling him as “toxic” is an overstatement. He’s our best RB, plus now that Gruden is gone he’s showing his receiving skills.

  8. We’ll it isn’t a mirage that he couldn’t finish even a half of football game Sunday. So yes there is concern He was at his best as a rookie. Even on some runs Sunday he tries to slash when in the past he would bull you over.

  9. I get a feeling the new coach is favoring Kenyon Drake over Jacobs ala Gruden leaning on Jacobs instead of featuring Drake earlier in the season. However, was it comments Jacobs Made about post Gruden or is it his overall performance this season ?? Anyway, the team shouldn’t be listing him on injury report if he is healthy !!

    1. I believe they will be using both a lot. Who is featured will depend on the matchups. For what ever reason it didn’t seem like Gruden wanted to use Drake much. He’s getting his chances now and will thrive with Josh. The improvement of the offensive line will continue which should enable the run game to continue to improve.

  10. Funny what some competition will do. Jacobs knows he’s not the #1 back right now.Competition is making him hungrier..This is good for the team..

  11. “Pride and poise boys” let’s get back to that status and commit to excellence won’t sound like a farse to some of us who remember the *** kicking 40 to 6 we gave the oilers after that other game called the ice bowl took place. Yes we lost to the packers 33 to 14 better than 35 to 10 like KC lost in the 1st superbowl that was on 2 channels. Yes I had to sit in the other room during superbowl#2. As I was raised in Wisconsin and dad had to change his sermons so he would have any men in church on that fine day.

    1. Salute To You Yung Man… Ah Trur Testament To What Raider Nation Represents… All That Other Chitter Chatter.. Is Just Distractions. Stay Thee Course… Keep Your Faith In Raiders Being Great… N Everything Else Gone Fall In Place Like Dominoes..!!!!#bigg6tothaboard

  12. The only problem Jacobs should have with the Raiders is their lack of using him the correct way. People tend to forget that he was the pass catching back at Bama(and elite at that). Dude is a true 3 down back in every sense of the word and the way he has been used since he’s been here is baffling. Don’t get me wrong Drake is good but Jacobs has the ability to be great if used properly, both should get more work no doubt in my opinion, but it should never be to take away Jacobs touches, he only gets better as the game goes on. I know this thread was about his injury or lack there of but I can’t be the only one who sees us not using him to his fullest ability. Lets hope we come out firing after the bye week and go RAIDERNATION!
