It’s been 24 hours since the Raiders disappointing 22-10 loss to the Chargers and there still doesn’t seem to be a silver lining to the game.
It was a divisional game that the Raiders needed to win, and it was a game that they should have won.
Raiders radio host ‘JT The Brick’ talked about the game on Monday and he explained what bothered him most about the way the Raiders went down in Los Angeles.
“What’s haunting me in this loss, and it’s haunting me because I’m the guy on the radio that put a lot into that game,” JT said on his weekday Raider Nation Radio show. “I called it my Super Bowl. It really was my Super Bowl. I think we needed that game for a lot of reasons, and we’ll see how the rest of the season plays out. But the thing that bothers me most was punting on fourth down.”
As JT pointed out, there are a lot of reasons why the Raiders need to get off to a good start this year.
With losing comes drama and even though JT didn’t mention it, the Raiders have a big decision coming on the contract of Davante Adams. If the Raiders are winning, the decision on Davante’s contract becomes a lot less complicated.
Additionally, it would be nice to see Gardner Minshew or Aidan O’Connell play well enough to be in the discussion to be the team’s long-term quarterback. If that doesn’t happen, the Raiders will have no choice but to be ultra-aggressive in their search for a franchise quarterback.
The Raiders travel to Baltimore in week 2 and the Ravens were a team that looked like a contender against the Chiefs on Thursday night. The Ravens lost by inches to the Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium and they’ll be hungry for a win in their home opener against the Raiders.
An 0-2 start wouldn’t be catastrophic for the Raiders, but it would be close… especially if the offense doesn’t perform any better than it did against the Chargers.

JT, you’re a delusional fool, always have been..Start with a horrible stupid owner and you’ll find your short and long term answer and biggest problem.
It starts with Mark Davis, period..
He’s a total nimrod and so was his father.
I’ve been a fan since 1967..The raiders were only good when Al teamed with Ron wolf..He was the brains behind the raiders..He never got enough credit for his accomplishments from Raiders organization.
Have you wondered why Green Bay has done so well since 1992 till now?
Ron wolf started the foundation there.
They have always been in the hunt for over 32 yrs now.
There it is JT
Horrible coaching, both the head coach AND the offensive coordinator. We need coaches that want to win and by 40 points not three inches. The offensive line was the worst offensive line of any team in a lot of years. And the QB play was sub high school level but I think that a lot of that had to do with him playing scared the entire game… Dereck Carr looked good though 🙄
The bad OL personnel isn’t on AP, it’s on the GM! Why draft a TE when your line is so bad that your QB can’t go through his progressions? And the OL drafted in the 2nd round is damaged goods?! Raiders Organization leaves a lot to be desired.
Got a feeling this season will be another disaster
Ya J.T., but you can’t go into your work week thinkin’ like that. It wasn’t wrong to punt on 4th down. I could give reasons, but it’s Tuesday, time to put that one in the rear view and focus on the Ravens. Yes, they looked good against the Chiefs, all the more reason we need to get to work. This is where good coaching comes into play, and A.P. is a good coach. He and his staff need to go over what needs fixing, and then, instill confidence in the team, and especially Minshew and our Offense. This is where veterans step up and inspire the team to fight like Hell, but let the younger players know, we’re gonna be fine. Point out some things they did right, and let’s get to work on beating these Ravens.
Not many coaches would have punted in that situation and based on how that game was being played I didn’t trust the offense to get into that plus side field position again so for that reason alone I’m taking my chances once I’m there. But decisions are made based on a lot of factors and AP made his and it cost them. What was just as critical was not throwing the challenge flag on the spot that was given on the third down on Tre Tuckers run; that led to the first failed 4th and 1. I believe that they may have won that challenge and now we’re talking a whole new scenario.
