Raiders Social Media Post Fails to “Read the Room” after Loss to Chargers

Sunday kicked off a disappointing start to the season for the Raiders as they fell 22-10 to the Chargers on the road.

As has become the norm, the seats in SoFi Stadium were packed with Raider fans, but for the fourth straight year the Raiders fell to the Chargers on the road.

The Chargers played well defensively, but their offense couldn’t move the ball against Patrick Graham’s defense for the first three quarters. It was the Raider offense that handed the Chargers all six of their first-half points.

For the majority of the game, the Raider offense looked no better than it did a year ago and Gardner Minshew struggled to find rhythm in the passing game. Minshew played about as well as he did in the preseason and while it’s too early to panic, he is going to have a hard time keeping the starting job if he doesn’t play better in the weeks ahead.

Sunday’s offensive ineptitude brought back memories of the Josh McDaniels era, but the Raiders’ public relations department managed to find an awkward reason to celebrate.

While the team and the fanbase were hanging their collective heads on Sunday night, the Raiders’ PR team whipped up a tweet (i.e. a post on X) recognizing the record-breaking performance from Minshew.

Raiders PR on X (formerly Twitter): “QB Gardner Minshew II completed 25-of-33 (75.8%) pass attempts today. His 75.8 completion percentage is the highest mark by a QB in their Raiders debut in franchise history (min. 30 attempts). / X”

QB Gardner Minshew II completed 25-of-33 (75.8%) pass attempts today. His 75.8 completion percentage is the highest mark by a QB in their Raiders debut in franchise history (min. 30 attempts).

It was a strange statistic and one that no one particularly cared about, particularly after a loss.

Additionally, how many Raider quarterbacks have even thrown 30 passes in their debut with the team?

But the real atrocity is the fact that no one watching the Raiders on Sunday felt like the team stumbled into a nice situation at quarterback. Minshew might have a great year, but the season opener wasn’t great, and no one within the scope of the Raiders X account was ready to celebrate Minshew’s effort just two hours after a disappointing loss to a division rival.

  1. Actually Josh McDaniels offense looked way better then this crap.

Minshew is garbage, AP is a clown with zero coaching experience whatsoever..He sold himself to his idiot players last year and the moronic owner Mar Davis..
This franchise is total garbage and will never,I mean never taste the playoffs again!!

    Bad owner
    Horrible players
    Mindless coaching staff
    Dumbest fans on the planet

That sums up the Raiders organization

    1. Never huh? Well you’re obviously a raider hater cuz you’re not an educated football fan given the statements you just made. You’re completely speaking from a place of hatred not from a fan of the game. Ridiculous 🤣

    2. Sure buddy. Keep telling yourself that lol. Next time the Raiders play near your town, show up and tell a few Raiders fans that. Make sure you film it as well haha. Let me guess. You’re either a Queefs fan or maybe a Dnever Donkeys fan 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣

      1. Hilarious,ive been a fan since 1967..

I know this franchise inside out,you are just a fan who became one based on their colors..It’s best for you to shut your freaking mouth G boy..
This team is garbage regardless of a win over ravens.

Watch how the season plays out and you’ll remember my comments

  2. I wouldn’t say dumbest fans on the planet. We didn’t start watching football 10 minutes ago, but you are on the Mark about the owner and this current coaching staff.

    1. Hahaha. Listen kook. I grew up in Napa. Went to see them in training camp back when I was like 4. Come at me with that weak *** talk and I’d clown you in person fool! Point them fingers my way and they’ll be right angles went you leave lol

  3. Basically, Mark didn’t have the guts to not hire AP, especially when players like Crosby started clamoring for his return. He’s a weak owner with no vision on how to run this team. I bet AP wasn’t on any other team’s radar as a HC candidate. I hope AP proves me wrong, but I think we’re in for another year of mediocre football from this team. They’ll probably finish around a 500 record and miss out on a top spot to draft a franchise QB.
