Quarterbacks generally aren’t first in line to talk trash publicly, and it isn’t coincidence that it tends to work that way.
Some quarterbacks talk more than others, but most of the time there isn’t a good reason to give opposing defenses added motivation to come after you.
Justin Herbert, though, found a delicate way to do it anyway.
Herbert posted an Instagram picture on Monday night of Chargers offensive tackle Rashawn Slater standing up Maxx Crosby in pass protection.
Herbert can argue the picture was just a shot of his backside, but Slater’s block (or hold?) is clearly the focal point, and Crosby is the player not winning the down. Additionally, Crosby is the only Raider in the image.
This one was personal.
Regardless of Herbert’s intention, you can be sure Crosby will take note.
The Raiders and Chargers don’t play again until January 5, which is the final regular season game of the season. Herbert’s IG post will be long forgotten by that time, but just for the sake of good record keeping, it’s saved right here for future reference.
Crosby had a solid game against the Chargers, but it wasn’t one of his best. He had one sack and 4 quarterback pressures, according to Pro Football Focus, but it was Chargers rookie offensive tackle Joe Alt that came away with the biggest headline after Sunday’s game.

Isn’t this holding?
Funny that the picture he posts clearly shows that lineman holding the f**k out of Crosby.
He won the game but didn’t he get sacked by Crosby? Yea, so I think he shouldn’t be too excited about his rookie OT’s blocking!
That’s text book holding right there and Herbert selected that pic ? 😂
