The Raiders haven’t achieved a lot with Geno Smith at quarterback this season, but every indication is that Pete Carroll won’t be going away from his hand-picked quarterback for the final two games of the season.
Despite the fact that Aidan O’Connell, Kenny Pickett and Cam Miller could have a future in Las Vegas, Lincoln Kennedy said this week that Carroll isn’t about to change his approach at quarterback.
“Pete Carroll’s not changing. He’s been loyal [to Geno] all season. He’s not changing,” Kennedy said on the Locked on Raiders Squad Show podcast.
“Why change now? I mean, look, this is this is your ride or die guy. He came with it. Even when even when Geno was hurt or banged up, [Pete] still didn’t make the switch. It’s not going to happen.”
Kennedy’s co-host, Q Myers, added his thoughts on the quarterback situation in Las Vegas and said he believes the next two games with be Geno’s final two games with the Raiders.
“The fact that we’re talking about this is his best performance since week one, and he literally gave the Texans points, it tells you the season that he’s had,” Myers said.
“It just has not been what I think any of us thought it was going to be when they made the trade with Seattle with them. I thought he was going to at least stabilize and kind of calm down the waters at the quarterback position until they could find their franchise guy,” Myers continued. “But to me, and this is just me, of course, we’ll see what happens in the off season. I think this is a one and done experience with Geno Smith.”
“I just I don’t see any reason to usher him back next year. I know that they’re on the hook for $18.5 million guaranteed, but Denver has showed and Miami is going to show that 18 and a half million ain’t nothing. You can overcome that as far as I’m concerned.”
One of the biggest challenges for Smith going forward is going to be his relationship with the organization and the fan base.
If Carroll is fired after the season, Geno will lose his biggest advocate in the building.
Additionally, the fans have been fed up with Geno for the better part of three months and his bird-flipping incident in November was one of the most embarrassing points of the season.
A respectable end might reflect well on Carroll and his veteran quarterback, but it’s hard to imagine either of them coming back after the colossal failure the 2025 season has been.
At this point, the only development that could damage the season more would be a win against the Giants or Chiefs that might drop the Raiders down from the no.1 pick in the draft.

So beating a wounded team and the worst team in the NFL is supposed to offer Caroll an extension and we pick No 6. Mark better not allow that to happen
MERRY TANKS GIVING
You would have to have the football I.Q. of Mark Davis to think that beating the Giants is a good thing. We can attract a quality new Head Coach, despite having the worst owner in all of professional sports, if we have the first overall pick in the NFL draft. If we don’t have that first pick what Coach or Free Agent would want to work for us? Mark Davis has destroyed the legacy of this team and the: Hall of Fame players, Coaches, General Manager and former owner of this team’s legacy. Davis has alienated and ruined his fan bases attendance, television ratings and relevance not only to football in particular but sports in general. Mark Davis’ football team is a disgrace and it is a direct reflection of his incompetence and ability to lead this team anywhere but the bottom. He is out of his element, depth and breadth as person who is not a football man. Tom Brady is and was hired to be what mark Davis is not, a football man, for a lot of money and he too owns this abject failure. Don a paper bag over your face for this disgrace, no one can relate to or can love a loser for this long of a time period. Enough! Are we at a point that we can’t even lose right? If we are Mark Davis’ failures will cause him to lose this team which would be the best thing to happen to the Raiders in a long time now. Boycott this BS!
If this team does not tank or spend its money under the salary cap to improve then they have thrown in the towel. If they have thrown in the towel they are no longer trying to win. If they are no longer trying to win it no longer makes sense to support this team.

Look, I disagree with you. Aiden O’Connell does NOT have a future with the raiders. We saw what he can do the last 2 years. He was terrible. The only one of the three would be Cam Miller. He out played AOC in the preseason, and since he has not had the chance to play in the season, like him play and see if he might be the qb of the future. We sure as hell know Aiden O’Connell isn’t the future. He had his chance, he’s done, stick a fork in him.
Coach Biden you’re way too old and way past your expiration coaching date. The game has passed you by. You still think Forsythe is playing well. Just go away bro. You shouldn’t be making any decisions that are considered even moderately important at this stage.
