Video Appears to Show Geno Smith Flipping Off Raiders’ Fans after Sunday’s Loss

The Raiders reached a new low point in their storied history on Sunday, and their starting quarterback may have reached a new low, as well.

After Sunday’s 24-10 loss to the Browns, a video surfaced of Geno Smith jogging off the field and it was pretty clear he was flipping off fans as he approached the tunnel.

Whether the fans he was gesturing happened to be Raider fans or not, it won’t matter when it comes to potential league discipline.

As for Smith’s standing with his own fan base, it’s hard to imagine the veteran quarterback bouncing back from everything that has played out over the last 12 weeks.

Smith isn’t the only problem with the Raiders’ incompetent offense, but Sunday’s gesture to the crowd won’t be one that sits well with a fan base that has already reached its tipping point.

This is the second time Smith has flipped the “bird” at fans, with his first incident directed at a Seahawks fan in the preseason.

Ironically, in August it was a Seahawks fan comparing Geno to Jamarcus Russell, and just three months later, the Jamarcus comparison is one Raider fans are starting to make, as well.

Smith was sacked 10 times in Sunday’s loss, but it was the missed deep throws that haunted the team more than anything. Nothing is working for the Raiders on offense and Smith is completely out of rhythm with his offensive coordinator and teammates.

Head coach Pete Carroll has fully supported Smith through the first 12 weeks of the season, and it will be interesting to see how Carroll handles the quarterback room after this week.

If Smith isn’t the future at the quarterback position in Las Vegas, what’s the benefit of putting him on the field at this point?

  1. there is just to much wrong with this club, many could see this coming early on when they kept adding receivers
and did not work on the offensive line. I think Pete Carrol is not good for this team, especially when i see him stay with his “favorites” and how he treated a few good stable players, (no names thank you). defense coordinator needs help,
and the offensive coordinator appears to be in way over his head and should have stayed with college. I read an article that there is allot going on behind the scenes along with on the field, the owner should stop that in its tracks and put a team out there that can play without the distractions!

    1. Face it. The OWNER is, and has been, the core problem with this inept organization. The team will never be relevant as long as he’s selecting the people running the team. He’s had 20+ years, and still can’t figure it out. This is possibly the wordt team in the NFL!

      1. It’s Mark, Mark, Mark. Always has been, always will be until he dies or sells the team. I used to think he might get lucky and land on the right guys by mistake. That’s not happening. He’s too old and isolated to get any better as owner.

        1. Funny, I can’t help but remember the story about when Mark was a youngster hanging around the team and Al gave him a job as a ball boy, I believe. He winds up getting fired by his dad! I guess it foretold of things to come. The club is worth billions he should sell and enjoy his WNBA franchise.

      2. Well one thing I will disagree with is Mark has had WAY LONGER than 20 years.
He’s had about 40 years to get ready to be owner. Was it really asking too much for Mark to see/learn from the organization & Al on how to run a NFL team?

He could learn what works, what not to do, etc. but he wanted to party. Fudge him

  2. He Stinks and the Head Coach AND Sons should have been fired before they could get to the Locker Room after the Game. Seriously – having been with and around the Raiders since 1976 I cannot remember a More Horrific and Shameful excuse for a Team… NEVER Prepared at all!!! They are Humiliating and are EmBareAssing themselves and what is left of the Fan Base. HEY MARK… WTF are You Thinking as You Count Your Money???

  3. 10 sacks is not an excuse for Geno, it’s damning. Sacks are a QB stat. Plus, all the missed throws. The dude as been Godawful, and I don’t want to see him play another down at QB for The Raiders unless it’s just another way to put nails in Pete Carroll’s coffin.

Disastrous owner, disastrous “whatever the hell Brady is,” disastrous Head Coach and OC. Disastrous QB. The only one I’m not sure about is Spytek, because half his picks can’t see the field (Pete playing the vets to win at 2-8 is pathetic), and the ones who have played can’t be evaluated fairly due to the **** show. And at least he seemed to know this was coming with the way he refused to do anything but 1 year vet deals in free agency. “Doesn’t matter because the team is ****, but sure, Pete, take Devin White and his one good season several years ago on a 1 year deal. Done.”

    1. I agree but Spytek hasn’t impressed me. Yeah Pete won’t play them but has Bech flashed at any point? I know the 3rd round tackle needs a red shirt season but the guard should be out there now.

I think Darien Porter was his best pick, my favorite @ the time but Pete wont play him.

That said, the best way forward is Spytek running things…but Brady needs to stay the fudge out of all decisions

    2. Good write up on the Guardian, regarding Tom Brady’s part time “side hustle” as Raiders team builder! Just what I’ve been pointing out that Davis is the only owner capable of making such a head scratcher of a move appointing an unproven rookie to build the team and as part time gig. Mark just lacks basic common sense.

  4. Mark Davis is an embarrassment, just by the way he presents himself, but to say he hasn’t been trying to correct his mistakes wouldn’t be true. I cannot even add all the money that he is doling out to former coaches right now. He managed to do something his dad never could do, and that’s give the Raiders an elite stadium and training facility. He has always brought in reputable NFL people, McKenzie, Gruden to run the organization, even the Patriot way effort, which I hated, was still qualified people. This latest venture, I cannot say the same, because Tom Brady playing QB at high level does not qualify him to run an organization, and Spytek is his man. I’m not aware that Spytek interviewed anywhere else. With this roster being in the shape it is, a 74 year old coach was a terrible concession for the GM to make, and until we have a real QB or a path to get a real QB, we will never be a desirable organization. We’ll get another HC, there are only 32 of these positions, but like Pete, it will be a guy desperate for the opportunity.
