Latest Marvin Harrison Jr. News Fuels Trade Rumors

Raiders have an opportunity to trade for Harrison if they are interested

The Raiders have been linked to a potential trade for Marvin Harrison Jr., and while the Cardinals haven’t given any indication that their former first-round pick might be on the trade block, it would seem based on his actions in recent weeks, Harrison considers it a real possibility that he will be traded.

Until September 23, Harrison did not have an agent and didn’t necessarily need an agent because he cannot negotiate a new deal until he completes his third NFL season.

But even with the ability to negotiate a new deal after the 2026 season, nothing about Harrison’s production over the last two years would suggest he has a new deal on the way.

Raiders interested in Marvin Harrison Jr.?

Two weeks ago, though, Harrison hired Todd France and Tory Dandy of Athletes First, and the best explanation Harrison’s decision to hire agents is the possibility that he could be on the move ahead of the trade deadline.

Agents can be instrumental and helping orchestrate trades and to some degree helping players get traded to teams they prefer.

In his current situation, Harrison doesn’t have a lot of leverage on the Cardinals, but if there’s a team he would prefer to play for or situation he wants to avoid, it can only help to have an agent in his corner.

Raiders interested in Harrison?

To this point, there has been no indication the Raiders have reached out to the Cardinals about Harrison, but the Colts are known to be interested depending on the cost.

Estimations have been that Harrison could most likely be acquired for anywhere from a third-round pick to a fifth-round pick.

If the Raiders are interested in Harrison, there’s a good chance we wouldn’t know it because GM John Spytek and head coach Klint Kubiak might be tightest-lipped GM/HC combo in the league.

On his daily podcast this week, Raider Nation Radio host Q Myers said he doesn’t think the Raiders are going to make an aggressive move for a wide receiver just yet.

“I do believe, this is just my gut feeling, I don’t know this from anywhere, nobody has said this to me so it’s not anything worth reporting, I’m just saying I believe they’re going to ride this bad boy out, see how things go, see what fits, see what works, see what doesn’t work and then be able to adjust in the offseason,” Myers said on The Locked Raiders podcast this week.

“I just think that that’s the way it’s going to happen, and if there is any move to be made, maybe… it’s much closer to the trade deadline when the price of doing business is lower.”
