Mark Davis on League’s Objectionable Handling of Jon Gruden’s Emails: “We’re Raiders, We’re Used to This”

Raiders owner Mark Davis has finally shared his thoughts on the way the league handled Jon Gruden’s emails and he clearly isn’t happy.

Speaking on Wednesday to reporters at the NFL owners’ meetings in New York, Davis didn’t defend Gruden’s actions, but he said the “timing issue” made the situation difficult for the organization to handle – especially considering the league knew about Gruden’s emails months before they were leaked to the media.

Davis was asked by reporters if the Raiders were treated unfairly by the NFL and he left little room for interpretation.

“We’re Raiders,” Davis said. “We’re used to this.”

Davis also split from his party line as an NFL owner and said he would like to see a written report of what was found in the Washington Football Team investigation. The league, of course, would rather jump on a live grenade than cough up 650,000 private emails – some of which would likely incriminate many of their own.

To this point, the NFL has been clear that they will not be turning over the contents of their WFT investigation. Commissioner Roger Goodell gave a weak explanation on Tuesday for why the league has chosen to hide what they found in the investigation, but his message was met with immediate backlash from lawyers.

Lisa Banks on Twitter: “I represent 40 former employees of the WFT who participated in the investigation. Goodell’s statement is false. https://t.co/hKSzFkzQxK / Twitter”

The league may have gotten one over on the Raiders (with the timing of going public with Gruden’s emails), but as a wise man once said…

What goes around, comes around.

And karma is a female dog.

Andrew Brandt on Twitter: “The leaker of the Gruden emails was very short-sighted. He/she buried Gruden, but brought focus back to the toxicity of WFT and the backroom dealings of NFL owners. / Twitter”

The leaker of the Gruden emails was very short-sighted. He/she buried Gruden, but brought focus back to the toxicity of WFT and the backroom dealings of NFL owners.

Since the league’s sabotage job on the Raiders, the locker room has united and the team has responded with consecutive wins.

All eyes are now back on the NFL and it’s owners.

Let’s see if the league can manage their mess anywhere near as well as the Raiders handled theirs.

  1. It does’nt matter how many games you win. When the playoffs come as usual Derek Carrbwill fail it’s a proven fact we cant win a big game.He is a scared qb

  2. How many of us can goto work for 7 straight years and fail, but magically keep are jobs. Now Carr is actually doing good all is forgotten.Carr is a proven looser,he will choke in any big games,or playoff games. When will the raider realize your throwing year after year of football away hanging onto this broken down carr

  3. No matter hiw goid Briken down Carr does.He will never get mvp.Only raider fans think he is goid, the rest of the nfl see’s right thru the bs you can take ANY nfl qb give him the ball throw it under 2 secounds and see how good they will be.Go back to thumping your bible

  4. Everyone is complaining about Carr. Maybe they forgot what it was like before him. At least now we have a chance. Maybe you guys want to be like the Denver Donkeys and can’t find a QB. Carr is a top 12 QB in the NFL and that’s a lot better than we have had in a long time.

  5. Jason sounds like a little punk hater…I used to get triggered by idiots talking smack on carr now I enjoy them . Carr is one of the most loyal dudes in the league and a true leader of men we are lucky to have . I feel like we’re set to have a big decade in RAIDERS history and carr is a big reason why!!!!…..go RAIDERS…F little punks like Jason

  6. Are you all ok? Listen why do I keep hearing about how league is doing this to Raiders like days of old. The plain and simple truth is this has nothing to do with league hatred of Raiders and specifically to do with Gruden being an idiot and made some pretty foul comments about Goodell. If you ran league and some mediocre nobody like Gruden makes the type of remarks about you and he is now in league again how many would not flex their muscles and teach that person a lesson?

Stop portraying this incorrectly as you do a lot of things published here. WOW.

  7. Jason is probably one of those fair weather fans , probably still lives home with his mother an leaches of her retirement an Social Security dating women Probably never been to a Raiders game in his life ,what a knucklehead get a life dude , You aren’t a Raiders fan , you couldn’t even be a judge on Americas got talent you sure don’t anything about football
