After the events of the last week, Maxx Crosby’s future with the Raiders is a little uncertain, and FOX Sports insider Jay Glazer acknowledged as much last week.
Crosby didn’t agree with the team’s decision to shut him down before the team’s week 17 game and left the team facility on Thursday before returning on Monday.
Pete Carroll said he was fine with Crosby’s decision, adding that he was on the same page as Maxx, but Las Vegas Review-Journal columnist Adam Hill thinks Crosby was still out of line.
“It’s not a good look. I mean, you can stop short of saying he’s not a good teammate, and his teammates were singing his praises still in the locker room today, including Jonah Laulu… but it’s not a good look,” Hill said on the Vegas Nation Raiders podcast.
“It’s not a good look to do what he did on social media on Saturday night, which is post pictures on a trampoline. And I know it’s just with his daughter bouncing around. You know what the message is, going on the basketball court. He’s not playing a full court game. He’s not going full contact. He’s just kind of making moves on himself against the shadow.
“But you know what you’re doing. It’s not a good look. And that was the message to the organization and I get it,” Hill continued. “But there also is the part and, look, we understand who Maxx is. He’s a million miles an hour all the time. But he just lost and lost and lost here and… he talks every year about ‘I’m sick of losing. I want to win.'”
“This is how you win. You make sure you lose. I’m sorry. It doesn’t really work both ways. You can’t fight and scratch and claw at the end of the year for extra victories like they’ve done each of the last couple of years and then not be able to get a quarterback and not be able to get a high draft pick. Not being able to get those assets and then wonder why you continue losing. That’s why you continue losing.”
As Hill and others pointed out, it makes sense why Crosby wanted to play, but he wasn’t doing anything malicious by posting videos of himself playing basketball over the weekend, either.
If anything, it didn’t look like he was moving particularly well in the videos, so Crosby’s social media posts weren’t much a statement in either direction.
As Yahoo and FOX Sports host Jason Fitz said this week, the Raiders and Crosby should both come away as winner in the offseason, regardless of how the situation plays out.
“I think [if] everything breaks right… you’re looking at a three-year rebuild, in my opinion. By the time we get to the end of three years, Maxx is going to be on the wrong side of all of this,” Fitz said on Raider Nation Radio’s Morning Tailgate.
“So frankly, if he wants to go play somewhere else so he can win, he’s earned the right to go play somewhere else so he can win. And the Raiders will get a big haul in return, which they could use for a long-term rebuild. If he doesn’t want to go someplace else, if he wants to see this thing through, then you get the culture leader you need in the locker room.”
“He can teach and he can be such an important part of playing with energy and playing with efforts and teaching guys how to be a pro,” Fitz continued. “[If] he sticks around and he sees this through, hopefully, in year three when this is a much better football team, Maxx is still putting up great numbers and it’s a great return.”
“Weirdly, there is no loss in this because I don’t believe that the Raiders have any chance next year of being a playoff team. So if they don’t, then don’t hold Maxx prisoner. If he wants to go somewhere else, let him go somewhere else. If he doesn’t want to go somewhere else, let him be the culture setter in the locker room.”

He is not getting traded unless he specifically ask for one. Mark Davis loves that guy. Also since when have the Raiders ever worried about rather something is a good look, or not?
Big deal the guy blew off some steam. He’s ultra competitive and by the way since when is raiders football a gentleman’s game. It’s a natural thing to do after being told you can’t be out there with yer boys..
Hopefully things work out for the raiders and mad Max’s comes back next year healthy And angry !!!
