For the first time since the Ravens bailed on their trade agreement with the Raiders, Maxx Crosby has spoken publicly on the sequence of events that took place while he was in Baltimore.
Just about every free-thinking person following the situation believes the Ravens got cold feet and decided to sign Trey Hendrickson instead of trading for Crosby, but that information won’t be leaking out of the Ravens’ building anytime soon.
What is leaking out of the Ravens’ building, though, is what Crosby saw with his own eyes, and he shared some of those details on his Tuesday podcast.
Via The Rush podcast, here are a few highlights from Crosby’s account of his infamous trip to Baltimore…
The Ravens flew Crosby to Washington DC, made him drive 2 hours to Baltimore
“They picked me up. They flew me to [Washington] DC because there wasn’t many flights. We flew first class. They flew me to DC because that was the only straight through. We had to drive two hours from DC all the way to Baltimore after the five-hour flight.
That sh– was f—ing weak,” Crosby continued. “I’m like, ****. You know what I mean? You’re sitting on a plane all day. I just want to go and lay down for a second, catch my thoughts.
Two hours in the car. I’m like, this is crazy. So we drove all the way to Baltimore, to the harbor, and we get there.”
Ravens GM Eric DeCosta never met with or spoke to Crosby
“I didn’t get to meet with [the head coach] until the end of the day. I didn’t get to see the GM at all. I thought I was going to see him when I first got there. I didn’t see him for five hours and I don’t know why.
I’m not going to speculate. I didn’t see him one time. I even asked the girl. I was like, where’s Eric at? I want to say… he just made the trade. I didn’t see him for five hours. So I go and do my thing. At the end, they’re like, ‘Yeah, I’ll take you up… to go see the head coach just before you leave.’ I was like, ‘Hell yeah… that’s what I want to say what’s up to him.’
So I went back up and I dap him up and I could just tell like the energy was a little bit off and the GM was standing in the room next to me to the right and that was the first time I seen him. And, you know, I’m just in my head like I’m just this is a whirlwind. I’m so excited, like fired up, you know what I mean? Like this is a new opportunity, whatever. And you could just tell the energy was off.”
The Ravens were giving Crosby a different message than what they were telling his agent
“[My agents] were like, ‘I don’t think this is going to go the way we expected it to.’ I’m like, ‘What?’ I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’
He’s like, ‘They’re probably going to back out of this. I’m like, ‘alright,’ so I’m sitting there waiting for a call. I can’t even sit still. I’m like, ‘What the f—?’ So I took a nap, like a 20-minute nap. I always find a way to get a nap. I called [my agent] back. He hits me. He’s like, ‘Yo, they’re backing out’ And it’s crazy because their guy called me. One of the Ravens guys called me and was like, ‘Yo, we’re trying to figure this out. We’re going to get this done. Don’t worry.’
Like five minutes later, CJ calls me. He’s like, ‘They’re backing out. I’m like, ‘Holy sh–.’ So I’m like frozen. I’m like, ‘What the f—?’ I’m f—ing livid, confused, the whole night all in one. And so I told him, I’m like, ‘I’m trying to get out of here, bro. Like, what the ****? Like I’m supposed to have dinner at 630.’
I had to wait until like six o’clock to figure out what the hell I was going to do. So me and Rachel, we got our dinner. We ordered in our food. We had like meal prep from the day before. We’re like, ‘F— it, let’s eat that.’ And CJ called the Ravens. They’re like, ‘No, [we’ll] send a jet.’ Like they got a bigger one tonight. ‘They’ll send you back tonight in like an hour and a half, if you guys can get ready.’ I’m like, ‘Start packing that sh–. Let’s go.’ So we packed all our sh–.”
Crosby said no one will ever admit what really happened
“Everyone’s got their own theory, conspiracy theory. No one really will ever admit at either side what the real truth is or whatever. And ultimately, it doesn’t even matter. I am where I’m supposed to be. I know that. I’ll just say that.”

That sucks that the Raiders won’t get anything for Crosby. Crosby was a great player for the Raiders, but he’s on his way out and with a bad knee his time is limited. The Raiders need new players and now they will still be left behind. The Raiders have a terrible ownership that will never get them any better. Crosby was the one person who actually was worth something on the Raiders till the league realize that he was on his way out. Crosby will be good for maybe a year or two but that won’t help the Raiders in a long run now.
Yes it will be surprising if they get much of value for Crosby. He’s been having knee issues for the past two years. Makes one wonder why he would be so upset about being shutdown for the last two games if his knee was so bad that it required surgery after the season?
