NFL Insider Says Star Wide Receiver Will Visit the Raiders, Then Deletes Report

The Chargers released star wide receiver Mike Williams last week, and on Monday morning it was reported that Williams will be visiting the Raiders.

Or maybe he won’t.

The report linking Williams to the Raiders came from NFL Network’s Peter Schrager and was almost immediately deleted without explanation.

Just playing the guessing game a little… there are two possible explanations for the original report to be deleted.

It could be that the information wasn’t something the Raiders or Williams wanted to be made public, and the other possibility is that the report might not have been accurate.

The more likely scenario, though, is that someone simply didn’t want the information out there. The Raiders concealed their interest in defensive tackle Christian Wilkins before signing him to a four-year, $110 million deal, and maybe that’s the same approach the team is trying to take with Williams.

Assuming there is some truth to the deleted report, it would be no small story that the Raiders are looking to add a wide receiver like Williams. Wide receiver isn’t necessarily a position of need for the Raiders… but situations in the NFL can change in a hurry.

Nevertheless, Davante Adams, Jakobi Meyers and Mike Williams would make one of the best wide receiver groups in the NFL if that hypothetical situation eventually becomes a reality.
