Raiders 6th-Round Quarterback Has Grown in “Dog Years” at Training Camp

The Raiders could have a difficult decision coming on sixth-round pick Cam Miller when roster cuts are made next week, and the consensus right now seems to be that the decision-makers in the building aren’t going to take the risk of sneaking him to the practice squad.

Miller impressed in his first preseason game and Las Vegas Review-Journal insider Vinny Bonsignore dropped an interesting statement on Miller’s development on Wednesday.

According to Bonsignore, Miller has made a strong impression on the coaching staff in terms of his growth at training camp.

“I was talking to somebody in the organization [who said] it feels like he’s grown in dog years the last couple of weeks, just in terms of he looks different than he did just three weeks ago,” Bonsignore said on the Vegas Nation First and 10 Podcast. “So, that’s something to keep an eye on.”

For now, it doesn’t look like Miller is a threat to supplant Aidan O’Connell as the team’s no. 2 quarterback, but it definitely feels like it’s only a matter of time.

There has been talk of the Raiders potentially adding another quarterback before the start of the season, but every indication is that the third-year quarterback has performed well in practices.

“I can tell you this,” Sports Illustrated insider Hondo Carpenter said on Sunday, “Not just by public comment, talking to people privately today. There is a strong sentiment [that] he’s got to do it under the lights, but they do believe in him.”

    1. I swear there was a couple of pigeons on top of Aiden’s shoulders back there. Hahaha! Very statuesque

Wow Hondo! You had to really dig this out of your inside sources. The team drafted a guy & they believe in him, but he has to show it in games. We are so lucky that he shares inside information like this with us.

  2. Aidan might fetch the Raiders a middling Day 3 pick to a team that needs a backup. The Raiders are completely hosed if Geno isn’t healthy (and really good) anyway. Aidan isn’t a starter, but he could keep a team with a better supporting cast in games if a starter went down for a bit. There’s no more upside up be tapped there for AOC. Might as well give the young man the job anyway, IMO.

Also, still waiting for the Hondo article where his insiders share which players have really sucked and left the coaches disgusted this camp lol. I swear, some of the media around this team acts like they’re covering a successful organization.
